Latin American Crossroads Series: Colombia – Peace, Progress, Prosperity

June 27, 2017 at 5:00 pm - 7:00 pm

Colombia event sponsored by:

Colombia has been working hard toward a more peaceful future, emerging from its violent past to become one of Latin America’s top economies and a free-trade partner with the United States.

As the nation of nearly 50 million people transforms, Georgia companies have sought new opportunities. Some have tapped into Colombia’s strong manufacturing, agricultural or high-tech sectors. Delta Air Lines recently started two new routes there from Atlanta. UPS has a new healthcare facility in Bogota, where Georgia became the first state to open a trade office in 2013.

It’s clear that Colombia has already become a source of hope in the region, but are peace and progress inevitable in a place that has struggled to strike a balance between justice and reconciliation?

Join Global Atlanta and a slate of expert speakers to hear more about the current state of affairs and how companies are taking part in the country’s shift.

Our Speakers:

  • Jennie Lincoln, Director, Latin America and Caribbean Program, The Carter Center
  • Alan Grostephan, Professor, Agnes Scott College; and author of the novel, Bogota
  • Mike Nilan, CEO, TreeZero Paper Company
  • Jim Reed, President, YKK Corp. of America

Cost: $25
