General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) will be enforced May 25th to strengthen and unify data protection for individuals within the European Union (EU). The new regulation will affect all companies handling personal data within the EU, as well as American companies offering goods or services to, or monitor the behavior of, EU data subjects.

About the speaker
Kevin Coy is a partner in the Privacy Practice at Arnall Golden Gregory, located in Washington, D.C.
Mr. Coy focuses his practice on advising privacy-sensitive organizations on domestic and international privacy law and policy matters concerning a wide range of personal information. Mr. Coy also advises clients on online privacy issues, the conduct of privacy impact assessments and privacy best practices. He advises clients on data security and breach notification laws and best practices for responding to a data security incident.
Internationally, Mr. Coy advises clients on transborder data flow issues and other matters in connection with the European Union (EU) Data Privacy Directive and implementing national laws (and the EU/U.S. Safe Harbor), Canada’s PIPEDA, and other foreign privacy laws and regulations.
