Meet the Lectors:

This yearโ€™s workshops are led by a talentedย mother-daughter duo from Moravia, who bring the heart of Czech folk tradition to life through their art.

Ludmila Zahrรกdkovรก

Ludmila is a respected folk artist from Hovorany with deep roots in the Slovรกcko region. A lifelong practitioner of traditional techniques โ€“ย like embroidery, sand painting, and ribbon decoration โ€“ย sheโ€™s known for herย precise, meaningful workย that preserves cultural heritage. Now retired, Ludmila devotes herself fully to her art, her vineyard, and preparing traditional kroje for her children and grandchildren.

Jana Kurkovรก

Ludmila’s daughter, Jana,ย is aย visual artist, teacher, and designerย who blends tradition with modern expression. Trained in applied painting and art education, she uses acrylics, fabric paints, and leather dyes to bring folk motifs into contemporary lifeโ€”on bags, clothing, home dรฉcor, and more. Janaโ€™s work is expressive and symbolic, shaped by a deep emotional connection to her Moravian roots.
