Meet the Lectors:
This year’s workshops are led by a talented mother-daughter duo from Moravia, who bring the heart of Czech folk tradition to life through their art.
Ludmila Zahrádková
Ludmila is a respected folk artist from Hovorany with deep roots in the Slovácko region. A lifelong practitioner of traditional techniques – like embroidery, sand painting, and ribbon decoration – she’s known for her precise, meaningful work that preserves cultural heritage. Now retired, Ludmila devotes herself fully to her art, her vineyard, and preparing traditional kroje for her children and grandchildren.
Jana Kurková
Ludmila’s daughter, Jana, is a visual artist, teacher, and designer who blends tradition with modern expression. Trained in applied painting and art education, she uses acrylics, fabric paints, and leather dyes to bring folk motifs into contemporary life—on bags, clothing, home décor, and more. Jana’s work is expressive and symbolic, shaped by a deep emotional connection to her Moravian roots.
