President Trump has ushered in a new era in Israel and the Palestinian territories with decisions such as the imminent move of the US Embassy to Jerusalem and significant cuts to the UN Refugee Organization for Palestinians. Despite this, just last week, President Mahmoud Abbas laid out explicit support for the two-state solution and put forward a serious proposal for how to get there before the UN Security Council. In his speech he raised the obvious question: Why are President Trump and Prime Minister Netanyahu unwilling to do the same?
