Parks, Trails, & Protests: The Future of the Atlanta Beltline

June 17, 2020 at 12:00 pm - 12:45 pm

Leaders say the Atlanta Beltline cannot become part of infrastructural racism as the unfinished trails and parks become a hot spot for protests against racial discrimination.
As the protests sparked by the death ofย George Floydย continue, the beltline serves as one of the many locations flooded by demonstrators. With the city stillย battling the pandemic, concerns arise over theย continuous gatheringsย of residents not only protesting but biking, walking, and exercising.
How will COVID-19 impact the development of the beltline and how can residents enjoy its benefits while social distancing?
Clyde Higgs,ย CEO & President of the beltline, shares his vision for the future of the project and addresses the recent challenges posed by protests and social distancing.
As a courtesy to our community, this program is OPEN TO ALL.
