Saborea Atlanta 2023: Fundraising Dinner for Ser Familia
October 21 at 6:00 pm – 8:00 pm
A dozen talented chefs from Metro Atlanta, Puerto Rico and elsewhere will be featured Oct. 21 at Ser Familia’s 10th annual Saborea fundraising dinner.
The chefs will donate their time and skills to create a unique tasting menu focused on Latino cuisine. Funds raised support Ser Familia, a nationally accredited nonprofit that provides family, social and mental health services to Hispanic families in metro Atlanta. The organization life-changing programs help families deal with issues such as anxiety, depression, thoughts of suicide and domestic violence, all worsened by the pandemic.
“So many families today are facing mental health challenges and Latinos and their children are among the
hardest hit,” said Belisa Urbina, co-founder and CEO of Ser Familia. “Many Latino children face the adult pressures of serving as translators for their parents and treatment in Spanish for those with anxiety, depression and other mental health issues is shockingly scarce.”
Ser Familia, based in Kennesaw, is one of the largest Latino organizations in Georgia. It has five offices in
metro Atlanta and last year served people from 31 counties.
Featured chefs include Julio Delgado, Andre Gomez, Oscar Medivil, Nagib Sued, Francis Sosa, Patirica
Rivera, Julio Viera, Mikiel Arnold, Michael Barraza, Jorge Izaguirre, Belen De La Cruz, and Hector Santiago. These highly admired chefs not only produce top-tier dishes at the event and in their own restaurants but are also dedicated advocates for the work that Ser Familia does for so many.
More than 500 people are expected to attend Saborea, which will take place at the Omni Hotel at
Centennial Park beginning at 6 p.m.
