October 22 at 8:00 am – 5:00 pm
Raksha, Inc is hosting their 25th Annual Fundraiser, Ek Shaam Raksha Ke Naam (An Evening in the name of Raksha), featuring a performance by Penn Masala, the world’s first and premier South Asian a cappella group. Raksha has teamed up with Penn Masala to honor survivors of violence in solidarity. Raksha is a Georgia-based nonprofit that works towards healing, empowerment, and justice for survivors of violence to build a stronger, healthier South Asian community. The organization has been providing support services, education, and advocacy to benefit South Asian Survivors of violence since 1995. Penn Masala, formed in 1996 at the University of Pennsylvania, pioneers South Asian-Western fusion music, transcending cultural boundaries and representing the unique experience of growing up in the United States with competing Eastern and Western influences. Ek Shaam’s theme this year is Raaz to Avaaz: Honoring the Journey from Silence and Secrets to Finding Our Voice. Doors will open at 6:30 pm on Friday, October 27, 2023 for hors d’oeuvres and drinks, followed by Penn Masala’s performance and Raksha’s award presentations 8 pm.
