Organized and hosted by the Emory University’s Center for Contemplative Science and Compassion-Based Ethics, this speaker series takes place over two days. It celebrates the work and global impact made by the Emory Compassion Center over almost three decades of a unique collaboration with Emory Presidential Distinguished Professor His Holiness the Dalai Lama. The event also kicks off a Year of Compassion at Emory––an initiative honoring the Dalai Lama’s 90th birthday––dedicated to exploring how compassion is expressed through teaching, research, creative work, service and daily interactions. This day’s sessions are:  “Advancing a Global Culture of Compassion” (9 a.m. to 11 a.m.), “Compassion as the Engine of Service and Global Change” featuring Richard Gere (virtual), Ajay Piramal and Sonja Lyunomirsky (1 p.m. to 2 p.m.), and “The Future of Leadership” featuring Dr. Daniel Goleman (2 p.m. to 3:30 p.m.).
