U.S.-Japan Business Leaders Series: Conversation with Aflac

Join the Japan-America Society of Georgia for a special conversation with Andy Conrad, Senior Vice President, General Counsel and Compliance Officer of Aflac Life Insurance Japan Ltd. and Senior Vice President of Aflac International, Inc., as he discusses Aflac’s history in Japan and how Aflac is realizing its vision to be the leading company in “creating living in your own way,” along with his own personal connection to the country. Aflac was started in Columbus, Georgia, in 1955 and is still headquartered there to this day. The company, widely recognized for the Aflac duck, began operations in Japan in 1974, the same year that the Consulate General of Japan opened its offices in Atlanta. Since then, the company has grown to be one of the largest insurance companies in Japan.

This event will be moderated by Nozomi Morgan, Founder/CEO of Michiki Morgan Worldwide.

Andrew J. Conrad

Andrew J. Conrad is Senior Vice President, General Counsel, and Compliance Officer for Aflac Life Insurance Japan Ltd. and Senior Vice President for Aflac International, Inc. He first joined Aflac International, Inc. in 2001 and was appointed as Senior Vice President and General Counsel of Aflac Japan in 2012. In September 2016, Mr. Conrad took an additional assignment as Aflac Japan’s Compliance Officer. Prior to joining Aflac, Mr. Conrad practiced international trade law in Washington, D.C., and worked as an investor relations consultant in Tokyo, Japan. Mr. Conrad holds a law degree from Harvard Law School and a master’s degree from the Fletcher School of Law & Diplomacy at Tufts University. He is a member of the board of governors of the American Chamber of Commerce in Japan and the boards of trustees of the American School in Japan and Run for the Cure® Foundation.
