DESCRIPTION:Join Global Atlanta on Aug. 6 for a special edition of the Consular Conversations series presented by Miller & Martin PLLC and hosted by the Gwinnett Chamber of Commerce\, featuring Belgian Consul General Katherine Raeymaekers.  \n\n\n\nThe event will feature a recap of Partnership Gwinnett’s recent mission to Belgium and a one-on-one interview with the consul general conducted Global Atlanta Managing Editor Trevor Williams\, followed by a panel discussion with Belgian investors in Gwinnett County as the region celebrates another $2 billion investment win from Belgian biopharmaceuticals giant UCB. \n\n\n\nThe conversation will highlight Georgia’s historically strong and increasingly important role in recruiting Belgian FDI in the United States\, and how the state can maintain that age amid rising uncertainty in transatlantic relations.   \n\n\n\n\nNon-Member Ticket: $30\n\n\n\nGwinnett Chamber Member Ticket: $20\n\n\n\nGlobal Atlanta Passport Holder: FREE\n\n\n\n\nOur Featured Speaker:\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nKatherine Raeymaekers\,Consul General of Belgium in Atlanta\nAs of August 1\, 2024\, Mrs. Katherine Raeymaekers has been appointed as Consul-General at the Belgian General Consulate in Atlanta\, Georgia\, USA\, covering 10 states in the South-East. \n\n\n\nAfter joining the Belgian Ministry of Foreign Affairs in 2008\, as a career diplomat\, she has served as Deputy Head of Mission at the Belgian Embassy in Sofia\, Bulgaria (2009-2013) and in Budapest\, Hungary (2013-2017). Prior to the USA she served as Political and Economic Counsellor at the Belgian Embassy in Rabat (2020-2024). \n\n\n\nBetween 2017 and 2020\, she served as counsellor at the Department for EuropeanCoordination within the Belgian Ministry of Foreign Affairs\, responsible for matters related to transport\, telecom/digital and energy/green deal. \n\n\n\nShe holds a Master degree in Political Sciences – International Relations from the University of Ghent (2000)\, Belgium\, and followed post-graduates courses in Regional cooperation – Mercosur at the University of Buenos Aires in Argentina(2001-2003). \n\n\n\nShe is fluent in 6 languages: Dutch\, French\, English\, Spanish\, Italian and German. She also has some notions of Bulgarian and Hungarian.
