SUMMARY:Author John Keene to Read at Agnes Scott’s 55th Writers’ Festival
DESCRIPTION:One of Georgia’s longest-running literary traditions returns this spring as Agnes Scott College presents the 55th Writers’ Festival\, April 9–10 in Decatur. \n\n\n\nAcclaimed author John Keene will give a public reading followed by a reception. Visiting writers also include Aisha Sabatini Sloan and Agnes Scott alumna Charleen McClure ’10. \n\n\n\nAlan Grostephan\, an Agnes Scott College faculty member and current Georgia Author of the Year in Fiction\, will also participate. \n\n\n\nFounded in 1972 with celebrated poet and novelist May Sarton\, the festival is the longest continuously running literary festival in Georgia and brings together writers\, students\, and readers to explore storytelling and the craft of writing. \n\n\n\nThe festival also includes a statewide student writing contest inviting college and university students across Georgia to submit poetry\, fiction\, creative nonfiction\, and playwriting. Finalists are published in the festival magazine\, and winners are selected by the visiting authors. \n\n\n\nSupport from partners such as the Kirk Fund helps sustain Agnes Scott’s creative and performing arts programming and ensures these cultural experiences remain accessible to the broader community.
