DESCRIPTION:On January 22 the French-German friendship thanks to the Elysee Treaty of 1963 turned 60! \nJoin the Alliance Francaise\, Goethe-Zentrum Atlanta\, and the German and French Consuls General of Atlanta to celebrate this anniversary at Atlanta’s Franco-German Cultural Center. \nEvent includes:\n– Reflections on peace in Europe and the World by the Consuls General\n– Unveiling of a special German-French-American Friendship art work by Consul General Melanie Moltmann\n– German and French Classical Guitar concert with Luther Enloe and Grammy-winning tenor Richard Clement \nAbout the art work:\nThe BUDDY BEAR is a worldwide tourist attraction inspired by the mascot of the bear of the German capital city Berlin.\nHundreds of cities around the globe are hosting a Buddy Bear or more. Atlanta is about to have a Buddy Bear as well thanks to the support of the German Consulate General.\nTake a look at the unique design by Atlanta-based artist Rebecca Shenfeld:\nthe Buddy Bear express the friendship between Germany\, France\, and Atlanta\, incorporating Atlanta’s German and French sister cities Nuremberg and Toulouse. \nAbout the concert:\nClassical guitarist Luther Enloe and Grammy-winning tenor Richard Clement present a concert tailor-cut for the 60th anniversary of the Elysée Peace Treaty:\nFrench and German culture and musical styles have made significant contributions to guitar music. This program will feature music by French and German composers from various periods\, in addition to examples of how such composers influenced musicians from other nationalities. The event will consist of chamber music and solo literature with brief explanations of how France and/or Germany contributed to the music’s development and style.\nWith music by Francis Poulenc\, J.S. Bach\, Franz Schubert\, and Hector Berlioz as well as Hungarian composer J.K. DESCRIPTION:Join in this family-friendly event hosted by The Japan Society of Boston\, The Japan-America Society of Georgia\, the Japan-America Society of Houston\, The Japan-America Society of Washington DC\, and the Japan-America Society of Greater Philadelphia and learn how to make Gyoza and Gyoza Hot Pot! The class will be taught by Debra Samuels\, lead curriculum and recipe developer for Wa-Shokuiku\, a program of Table for Two. Debra is an author of two cookbooks and the 2020 recipient of the John E. Thayer III Award for Outstanding Contributions to Cultural Exchange Between the United States and Japan. \nDebra Samuels leads the program content and   curriculum development of TABLE FOR TWO USA’s   Japanese inspired food education program\, “Wa-  Shokuiku -Learn. Cook. Eat Japanese!”. She was a   food writer and contributor to the Food Section of  The Boston Globe and has authored two cookbooks:   “My Japanese Table\,” and “The Korean Table.” She curated the exhibit\, “Obento and Built Space:Japanese Boxed Lunch and Architecture\,” at the Boston Architectural College (2015) and co-curated  “Objects of Use and Beauty: Design and Craft in Japanese Culinary Tools\,” at the Fuller Craft Museum (2018). Debra worked as a program coordinator and an exhibition developer at the Japanese department of the Boston Children’s Museum (1992-2000).  She has lived in Japan\, all together\, for 12 years and specializes in Japanese cuisine.  She travels around the country and abroad teaching hands-on workshops on obento\, the Japanese lunchbox. During Covid 19 she is teaching live online cooking programs to youth and adults.
