DESCRIPTION:A tradition that began in the 1800s continues this spring as the 142nd Atlanta St. Patrick’s Parade returns to Midtown Saturday\, March 14. Presented by Irish Network Atlanta and the Atlanta St. Patrick’s Foundation\, the parade remains the longest-running public event in Atlanta history and one of the largest St. Patrick’s parades in the country. Each year\, thousands gather along the mile-long route to watch more than 100 parade units\, including floats\, marching bands\, bagpipe and drum corps\, animal groups\, Irish dancers\, and community organizations. A politically committed poet with a bohemian spirit\, he moved through New York’s literary circles\, Parisian salons\, Soviet intellectual life\, and Black diasporic communities in places like Marseille\, forging connections with figures such as W.E.B. Du Bois and Leon Trotsky. Shaped by these global encounters\, McKay developed a radical philosophy that anticipated its time. Whether you’re a spectator or parade participant\, join in on this fun evening to celebrate the luck of the Irish. \n\n\n\nIf you’re a pet owner\, consider decking your pet out in green or a shamrock print and participating in the St. Pet’s Stroll! You and your furry friend can stroll with your leashed or harnessed pet down Center Street and Commercial Street as St. Patrick’s Day revelers look on. Following the two-block stroll parade\, there will be prizes awarded at the Pavilion for Best Dressed Pet\, Leprechaun Lookalike (for adults)\, and the King and Queen (children) of St. Patrick’s Day Shenanigans. \n\n\n\nThe World’s Shortest Endurance Run sponsored by the Rotary Club of Rockdale takes place following the Parade\, starting at the Conyers Welcome Center at 6:00 p.m. Be among the brave and bold to run the rigorous 0.10-mile course from the Welcome Center to The Pointe (don’t worry–there’s a water stop along the way)! You’ll earn a T-shirt for pre-registering and participating in support of a great cause. \n\n\n\nThe Celtic Tavern\, located on Commercial Street\, will be prepared for all the lucky leprechauns to visit with outside dining and live music.
