Minsk\, partner\, leader of the Food & Drug team\, and co-chair of the Pharmaceuticals & Medical Devices team\, for a complimentary webinar focusing on considerations related to export controls and trade sanctions. \nThis webinar will focus on a variety of topics\, including:\n• a discussion on how life sciences companies are affected by U.S. export controls and\n• how those companies can develop a specific and nimble export controls compliance program. \nThere will be an opportunity for Q&A at the end of this webinar. \nCredits: 1 hour of CLE credit is pending approval by the State Bar of Georgia.

Aside from contributing to U.S. economic growth\, it is also an important force that is strengthening the capacity of American companies to effectively compete with an aggressive Chinese state supported machine that seeks to undermine American economic dominance around the globe.  In essence\, EXIM Bank\, through strategic loans\, is essentially engaged in an asymmetrical economic war with China in the “Gray Zone”. It is an economic warrior and is needed more than ever in the face of a determined adversary. \nAbout Reta Jo Lewis\, Esq. \nOn February 9\, 2022\, the U.S. Senate confirmed Reta Jo Lewis as EXIM’s President and Chair of the Board of Directors. Ms. Lewis is a senior executive with over 25 years of leadership experience in international affairs\, legal\, public policy\, business and regulatory affairs\, and subnational diplomacy. \nMs. Lewis was most recently a Senior Fellow and Director of Congressional Affairs at the German Marshall Fund of the United States. At GMF\, she led and oversaw initiatives\, programs\, and bipartisan exchanges for members of the U.S. Congress and their European counterparts\, focusing on leadership development and subnational diplomacy efforts. Prior to her time at GMF\, she served as the first-ever Special Representative for Global Intergovernmental Affairs under Secretary Hillary Clinton at the U.S. Department of State during the Obama-Biden Administration. As Special Representative\, Lewis was the chief diplomat in charge of the international efforts to build and support strategic relationships between the federal government\, state and local leaders\, and their foreign counterparts. In 2013\, she was awarded the Secretary’s Distinguished Service Award. \nMs. Lewis was the first Black woman to serve as Vice President and Counselor to the President at the U.S. Chamber of Commerce. She led the Chamber’s initiatives focused on fostering strategic alliances between small businesses\, especially women- and minority-owned businesses\, entrepreneurs\, and executives. SUMMARY:Export Stories: Navigating Trade Turbulence 2025
DESCRIPTION:International trade is never boring — while some say “the world is flat\,” those crossing borders for business know that there are inevitable mountains to climb when it comes to overcoming regulation\, getting paid and adapting products to local conditions. \n\n\n\nBut with turbulence becoming the new normal\, why start exporting your products and services now\, with a trade war kicking into gear and the threat of retaliatory tariffs on the horizon in key markets? \n\n\n\nBecause for every firm whose anxiety or apathy keeps them from tapping the 95 percent of the world’s consumers who live outside the U.S.\, there’s another company finding lucrative customers around the world\, boosting resiliency in times of domestic uncertainty. Exporting firms\, studies show\, pay better\, hire more and are better shielded against shocks. \n\n\n\nFrom software royalties and franchise fees to manufactured inputs and consumer products\, sellers of both goods and services in Georgia have learned to overcome real risks to seize the innovative edge and brand cachet that can come with exporting done right. \n\n\n\nJoin Select Cobb and Global Atlanta for a panel discussion where tales of export success from local pioneers will help you take the first (or next) step toward crafting and implementing your international strategy. \n\n\n\nFeatured Speakers\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nWei Siong Tan\, Ph.D.\,Founder and Director of Business Operations\, AccuSentry Inc.\n \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nCynthia T. SUMMARY:International Business Webinar Series: An Entrepreneurial Vision for Export Success
DESCRIPTION:An asylee from Colombia\, Felipe Arroyave came to the U.S. as a teenager with a strong work ethic and a desire to better himself through education. Along the way\, he caught a vision for helping those in the developing world\, from Latin America to the Middle East and beyond\, who lacked access to the specialty contact lenses patients in the West take for granted. Remedying the problem —and fixing vision for sufferers of kerotoconus\, corneal abrasions and other rare ocular problems — required some gumption and finesse. He’d spied the problem while working for a $4 billion lens distributor who was blind to the potential in smaller economies. Arroyave first proved the concept\, boosting sales for his employer in Latin American markets before branching out on his own and converting his former boss into one of his largest customers. Fast forward to today\, and Spectrum was named the U.S. Small Business Administration’s Small Business Exporter of the Year in 2024 on top of previous honors\, including winning both the Georgia GLOBE Award and the Atlanta Metro Export Challenge. HIs journey from the factory floor to the C-suite\, and his recent expansion of logistics and support infrastructure in Latin America to support growing sales\, offers an inspiring story of overcoming the odds by seeing and seizing opportunities in international business. \n\n\n\nKey Takeaways: \n\n\n\n1. How to see opportunities at the so-called “bottom of the pyramid” that legacy players believe are too costly or not lucrative enough to serve. \n\n\n\n2. The mechanics of exporting — how understanding payment\, shipping\, logistics and exchange rates can become a competitive advantage in the United States. \n\n\n\n3. How give-back programs including free education to doctors and patients\, along with an initiative provide contact lenses to underprivileged patients\, has helped build goodwill and boost the bottom line. \n\n\n\n\n\n\nRegister\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nMore info
