DESCRIPTION:As Atlanta hosts some of the brightest entrepreneurs from across the Americas this month\, Georgia Council for International Visitors and Global Atlanta are joining forces for an evening reception designed to help them expand their hemispheric networks in the city’s growing tech community. \n\n\n\nJoin us for a chance to meet and mingle with impressive young leaders from Colombia\, Guatemala\, Brazil\, the Bahamas\, Suriname\, Ecuador\, Antigua and Barbuda\, Mexico\, and the Dominican Republic at Constellations in downtown Atlanta’s Sweet Auburn District\, where we’ll share ideas and solutions over drinks and pan-Latin bites from Lottafrutta. \n\n\n\nThe 12 Atlanta participants were selected as part of the U.S. State Department’s Young Leaders of the Americas Initiative\, or YLAI\, a prestigious program bringing 280 under-35 social and business innovators to 19 cities across the U.S. \n\n\n\nHere\, they’ll be embedded in the innovation and nonprofit ecosystem for four weeks\, using the exchange to access training\, tools and networks that will bolster their organizations\, in turn strengthening social and economic development across the region. They’ll also garner feedback on pitches they’ve crafted to identify a solution to one of their enterprise’s most pressing problems. The survival of Moldova as a sovereign state is not just in the interest of Europe but in the broader global concerns of the United States as well. In addition\, we’ll be enjoying Moldovan wines during lunch as a special treat from the Ambassador! \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nViorel Ursu\, Ambassador of the Republic of Moldova to the United States of America\nAmbassador Ursu has worked for two decades in the field of international development assistance and academia. He has deep expertise in European\, Trans-Atlantic and Eurasian affairs\, with a focus on democratic practice\, diplomatic relations\, human rights\, anti-corruption\, media\, and civil society development. \n\n\n\nBefore assuming his current duties\, since 2014\, Ursu served as Division Director for Europe and Eurasia at the Open Society Foundations in London\, UK. Ursu spent over a decade in Brussels\, Belgium\, as a Senior Policy Analyst at the Open Society European Policy Institute\, where he developed deep knowledge and practice of the European Union’s policymaking and funding mechanisms. Prior to his move abroad\, Ursu was a lecturer of International Law and Human Rights at the Moldova State University\, which he graduated in 1997. During 1999-2002\, Mr. Ursu managed the establishment of a Master’s Degree in EU Law and Human Rights at the Law School of the Moldova State University with the support of the EU-TEMPUS Program. Ursu is also a graduate of the College of Europe from Warsaw\, with a Master in European Studies and EU Law. He received his initial training at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Moldova in 1996-97. Over the years he pursued studying programs at University of Fribourg\, Switzerland\, Montesquieu University\, France\, University of Navarra\, Spain\, and Harvard University\, USA. His journey in the business world began with a foundation in international business and languages. \n\n\n\nGuido’s early career saw him as a traveling salesperson in the Middle East\, promoting aluminum semi-products manufactured in Belgium. In 1979\, he transitioned to a role with the Belgian Trade Promotion Office\, serving at Belgian embassies in Latin America before eventually moving to Atlanta. \n\n\n\nIn 1991\, Guido Adriaenssens started his own trading and export company: WORLD ON WHEELS INTERNATIONAL INC. As the company evolved\, it streamlined its focus toward the export of motorcycles\, cars\, and related products\, earning a global reputation under the name WOW Motorcycles. Guido’s leadership has enabled WOW Motorcycles to successfully export to over 50 countries. \n\n\n\nIn addition to its global exports\, WOW Motorcycles\, under Guido’s guidance\, has expanded its portfolio to include the import of vintage vehicles. On the domestic front\, WOW has flourished as a leader in the USA retail market\, particularly as an independent reseller of used power sports equipment. The company\, situated in a brand new 60\,000 sq ft facility on Cobb Pkwy in Marietta\, employs approximately 50 people.
