SUMMARY:Toulouse Music Group Reco Reco Plays Concert at The Goat Farm
DESCRIPTION:This event is part of the annual France-Atlanta series organized by Georgia Tech and the Embassy of France in the United States. \n\n\n\nReco Reco\, an electronic music trio from Toulouse drawing inspiration from traditional South American rhythms\, comes to the Goat Farm in Atlanta on October 5\, 2024 to play during “Site”.The invitation of Reco Reco is in celebration of the 50th Anniversary of the sister city partnership between the cities of Atlanta and Toulouse. This event is a partnership between Villa Albertine\, the Goat Farm\, France-Altanta\, and ELEVATE. \n\n\n\nReco Reco‘s music is at once futuristic and ancestral\, where traditional South American rhythms meet the deepest infrabasses of European dancefloors. The three members of Reco Reco nourish their sound with cumbia\, merengue\, Mexican 3ball and Brazilian forro and baião\, each adding their own distinctive touch\, and fuse these traditional rhythms with today’s electro sounds. The result is an innovative and powerful sound\, accompanied by a contagious on-stage energy! Reco Reco includes Bastien Andrieu on keys and drum machine; Juan Kowalczewski on guitar\, drum machine\, and percussion; and Timothée Alcorn on drums. \n\n\n\nReco Reco’s newest EP\, “Quebrando Tudo\,” literally means “to break everything” in Brazilian\, to break norms and borders… In this album\, Reco Reco us on a spicy telenovela with a soundtrack mixing Baile Funk\, Kuduro\, Dub and Global y Tropical Bass… An incredible live combination\, to get bodies moving\, as if it were an urban voodoo ritual in an open-air club! Listen to Quebrando Tudo. \n\n\n\n\n\n\nRegister

SUMMARY:A Country in Crisis: Venezuela's Stolen Election with Ambassador Charles Shapiro
DESCRIPTION:The Venezuelan presidential election took place on July 28th of this year. The results have been contentious with both the current president Nicolás Maduro and opposition candidate Edmundo Gonzalez Urrutia claiming democratic victory. To worsen matters\, on the 6th of August\, the state of Venezuela launched a criminal probe into both presidential candidate Gonzalez\, as well as opposition party leader Maria Corina Machado. Ambassador Charles Shapiro will explore the recent election in Venezuela\, analyzing its implications for the nation’s future amidst a backdrop of economic turmoil and political instability. \n\n\n\nThe talk will delve into the election’s controversial results\, the reactions from both domestic and international actors\, and the subsequent uprisings that have swept across the country. Can the ruling United Socialist Party of Venezuela (PSUV) led by President Nicolás Maduro fend off the opposition coalition led by Edmundo Gonzalez Urrutia? Ambassador Shapiro will offer insights into the potential paths forward for Venezuela\, considering both the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead as the country grapples with its deepening crisis. \n\n\n\nWith millions of Venezuelans taking to the streets in protest\, and the country’s wider political landscape a mystery\, there is no better time for Ambassador (Ret.) Shapiro to grace us with his presence to give his thoughts on both the election\, and what the future may hold for such a wonderful country. Please join us for a meal as we unpack this topical issue.  \n\n\n\nComplimentary valet parking is available. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAmbassador (Ret.) Charles Shapiro\nAmbassador (ret.) Charles Shapiro is a senior advisor at The Pendleton Group and co-founder of Art of Diplomacy Travel. At the U.S. Department of State\, Shapiro held a number of senior positions including Ambassador to Venezuela\, Acting Assistant Secretary for the Western Hemisphere\, and Director of Cuban Affairs.  In 2011\, he became president of the Institute of the Americas at the University of California San Diego and in 2014 moved to the World Affairs Council of Atlanta. \n\n\n\nWhile at the World Affairs Council\, he taught international business at the Robinson College of Business at GSU. Shapiro’s op-eds have been published in the Atlanta Journal Constitution\, Global Atlanta\, the Atlanta Business Chronicle\, the Miami Herald\, the San Diego Union-Tribune and the Los Angeles Times.   \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nRegister

SUMMARY:Business Opportunities in the Dominican Republic
DESCRIPTION:Join the U.S. Commercial Service for the first event in a multi-part webinar series\, featuring USG and private sector experts presenting on business opportunities in seven markets across the Caribbean Region. \n\n\n\nThe Webinar on May 22\, 2024\, will focus on the Dominican Republic’s business opportunities for U.S. companies. \n\n\n\nWhy the Dominican Republic?   \n\n\n\n\nWith a population of 11.2 million consumers and a GDP of $113.6 billion in 2022\, the Dominican Republic (DR) is the ninth largest economy in Latin America and the largest in the Caribbean region open for commercial trade.\n\n\n\nReal GDP grew by 4.9% in 2022\, illustrating the economy’s continued robust post-COVID recovery and continuing the country’s remarkable run as one of the fastest-growing Latin American countries over the last 50 years.\n\n\n\nThe country has become increasingly urbanized in the last 15 years\, with more than 80% of the population now living in cities. U.S. companies may find opportunities in the key economic sectors of construction\, agriculture\, financial services\, healthcare\, hospitality\, transportation\, and FTZ manufacturing. U.S. companies may also find opportunities in areas related to information and communication technology (ICT) and disaster preparedness.\n\n\n\nThere is very high receptivity to U.S. goods and services\, and U.S. product standards are generally accepted. The United States is the DR’s largest trading partner; the DR imported $13.1 billion of U.S. goods in 2023.\n\n\n\nU.S. and DR membership in CAFTA-DR has resulted in robust trade growth. Since 2007\, duties on imports of U.S. products have been mostly eliminated on manufactured goods\, with the remainder scheduled for elimination by 2025.\n\n\n\n\nWho should attend: \n\n\n\nBusiness development representatives from U.S. companies in industries such as air conditioning and refrigeration equipment\, automotive parts and services\, hotel and restaurant equipment\, travel and tourism services\, renewable and conventional energy\, advanced medical equipment\, sporting goods\, safety and security\, aerospace and defense\, ICT\, marine ports\, consumer goods\, and construction products would benefit from this event. \n\n\n\n\n\n\nRegister
