SUMMARY:TONIGHT: Latin American Crossroads Series - Beyond the Border: Mexico on Its Own Terms
DESCRIPTION:  \nA Global Atlanta series sponsored by: \nThanks to President Donald Trump\, Mexico is back in the national dialogue like no time in the past two decades\, but his newfound focus on our neighbor to the south has once again failed to get past the context of competition. \nWhat if we went beyond the border\, past the wrangling over NAFTA\, the Wall and the War on Drugs\, and took a closer look at Mexico’s deep history\, storied culture and growing market? Would we find room to work together on a more equitable and respectful basis? Would Georgia-based companies uncover overlooked opportunities right under their noses? \nGlobal Atlanta will explore these questions and more in Beyond Borders: Mexico on Its Terms\, this second in the Latin American Crossroads series exploring Atlanta as a hub for the hemisphere. \nConfirmed Speakers: \nIntroduction by: Javier Diaz de Leon\, Consul General of Mexico in Atlanta — Update on NAFTA negotiations and current state of US-Mexico relations \n-Luis F Martinez-Obregon\, co-founder\, Zocalo — The story of one of Atlanta’s original Mexican restaurants. \n–Angel Flores\, Senior Vice President\, Wise Foods — How a merger with Mexico’s largest Coke bottler is driving the snack brand’s growth from Atlanta \n–Michelle Routh\, Chief Enterprise Architect\, Coca-Cola Co. — Coca-Cola’s exploration into the heart of Latin American innovation in Mexico City through “The Bridge” incubator \nModerated by: Trevor Williams\, Managing Editor\, reporting on collaboration and competition between the US South and Mexico in the aerospace and automotive sectors \n

SUMMARY:Who’s afraid of … Big Brother?
DESCRIPTION:Privacy Issues in the German-US Business World\nGerman-American business relations are booming and blooming. Despite or precisely because of the growing uncertainty about the political and economic direction of Germany’s best and biggest business partner\, the world market leader USA\, and the partially disquieting signals coming from the White House\, German companies seek to strengthen their transatlantic ties\, and invest\, settle\, and sell in the United States. However\, different business cultures\, opposing regulations and the risks associated with these factors\, if overseen or underestimated\, can result in misconceptions if not mistrust\, financial loss\, and even business failure.

SUMMARY:Nation Building? It Worked in Kosovo
DESCRIPTION:Can nation building ever work? Well\, it did in Kosovo. Born in war\, divided by religious\, ethnic and historical differences\, Kosovo looked to be another small country doomed to violence and failure. Dr. Vjosa Osmani\, a winner of the Sheth International Young Alumni Achievement Award* at the University of Pittsburgh and a Member of Kosovo’s Parliament\, participated in the negotiations over Kosovo’s final status\, made preparations for Kosovo’s 2008 Declaration of Independence\, helped draft the country’s Constitution\, and promoted Kosovo’s recognition as an independent nation by the international community. As the US struggles with helping nations such as Afghanistan and Iraq become self-sustaining nations where the rule of law prevails\, what lessons from Kosovo can be applied elsewhere? \nDr. Osmani is serving her second term as a member of Kosovo’s parliament. Kosovo\, formerly part of Serbia\, became independent in 2008.
