SUMMARY:Nathalie Kesler Lecture at the Millenium Gate Museum
DESCRIPTION:In honor of The French Delegation O.N.G Citoyenne Mondiale\, the National Monuments Foundation introduces Nathalie Kesler\, founder of Pangee O.N.G. Citoyenne Mondiale\, to give a lecture on Olivier Giscard d’Estaing’s Universal City. \nOlivier Giscard d’Estaing’s “UNIVERSAL CITY” \nIn the tradition of the 1889 Paris Exposition Universelle and Atlanta’s 1895 Cotton States Exposition\, a universal cultural center could provide a permanent framework for meetings and studies for the world’s problems. \nIt would be inspired by world exhibitions but distinguished by the following characteristics: Its buildings would be permanent\, they would be designed\, each of them on a theme\, without having strictly national buildings. \nBelow is a proposed list. More than just exhibition venues\, they would be places of activity\, research\, innovation\, communication and application work; all countries would be offered to participate\, or to choose some of them. \nThe themes would correspond to those of UNESCO\, to which others would be added such as: \n\nCulture\, education\, science and technology\, Painting\, sculpture\, architecture\, music\, cinema\, theatre\nEnvironment: air\, water\, vegetation\, human and animal life.\nThe history and geography of the planet\, by region\, nations and continents; rivers\, mountains\, seas and oceans.\nThe disasters of nature.\nGlobal policies\, meeting point for governmental and non-governmental organizations on international political issues.\nEconomy and society\, innovation\, poverty and growth\, demographics and migration\nHealth\, care\, research\, prevention\nSecurity and peace; historical analysis and criticism\nSports and leisure\n\nProposed Implementation: \n\nIt would be beneficial to consult with a few competent authorities to gather their reactions and suggestions.\nThe project would then be more credible and could be proposed to countries that could achieve it.\n\nTwo approaches would be possible: \n1. Either approach some of the most likely receptive countries \n2. Either launch a global consultation as is done for world exhibitions. \nFollowing the lecture is a Cocktail Reception. \nTo RSVP\, email Mac Schmitz mschmitz@thenmf.org

With the simple idea to bring a taste of German culture to Atlanta\, the German Bierfest gained popularity over the years and is on the ‘must do’ list for Atlanta festival fans and beer lovers in the Fall. \nStarting out in 2003 in what felt like a backyard get-together with 150 guests and a selection of 16 German beers\, the German Bierfest was born. SUMMARY:Economic Forecasting Conference: Opportunities in the Modern Era
DESCRIPTION:Come join for the August Economic Forecasting Conference at Georgia State University: Opportunities in the Modern Era. \nSpeakers: \n\nRajeev Dhawan\,\n\nProfessor & Director\,  Economic Forecasting Center\nJ. Mack Robinson College of Business\nForecast of the Nation\, State and RegionRajeev Dhawan delivers his keynote presentation on the economic outlook of the United States\, Georgia and the Atlanta Metro Region. Join us as he shares his views on the state of the global economy as well as employment and consumption trends and their impact on industry in Georgia. He will discuss\, in particular\, the implications for residential and commercial real estate in the Atlanta Metro Region.\n\n\nGregory Daco\,\n\nChief US Economist\,  Oxford Economics USA\n“Global Economy: Recession Fears Amidst Rising Trade Tensions”While looser financial conditions and a moderate upturn in the manufacturing sector will be supportive for global growth\, the escalation in US-China trade tensions along with waning fiscal stimulus increase downside risks to growth. Ongoing accommodative monetary policy by the Fed and other major central banks should remain supportive of growth\, but any significant global acceleration looks a tall order. Beyond the short term\, tight labor markets will constrain employment growth while wage growth firms only gradually. This will likely limit the upside to household spending. In this global context\, a re-intensification of US-China trade tensions risks undermining sentiment and investment\, and could push global GDP growth below the post-crisis low of 2.6% in 2016.\n\n\nMichael Drury\,\n\nChief Economist\,  McVEAN Trading & Investments\, LLC\n“Why China Leads the Global Economic Cycle”The global economy has evolved from a group of regional economies interacting through trade to a single global economy dominated by multinational supply chains. In this environment\, China\, as the world’s low cost producer\, has taken the role traditionally associated with the Southeastern US in a US model. Monetary policy shifts in China now matter more for future growth than the Federal Reserve\, and their impact is most clearly seen in Chinese real estate markets as the leader of the global cycle. This model suggests strengthening growth for the world and US in 2019 and 2020 – unless disrupted by the trade war.\n\n\nFrank Norton\,\n\nPresident\,  The Norton Agency\n“Three Georgia’s\, Not Two”Mr. Norton will provide an in depth review of housing conditions and trends in Georgia. Affordability and opportunities across Georgia both in rural and urban markets. Mr. Norton has studied Georgia housing factors and the dynamics of growth as well as the constraints affecting housing development.
