SUMMARY:Immigration & Travel Ban: Time Out!
DESCRIPTION:In partnership with the attorneys Glenn Fogle and David Lunel. \nPART 1: The last Presidential Proclamation and its consequences\non your immigration status \nOn June 22\, 2020\, Donald Trump issued a new Proclamation suspending entry of “aliens who present a risk to the U.S. labor market following the Coronavirus outbreak”. This proclamation is not only poorly drafted but also places uncertainty on the status of many immigrants and companies. President Trump justified that proclamation arguing that “American workers compete against foreign nationals for jobs in every sector of our economy\,” and that amid the economic troubles created by the pandemic\, work visas including the H-1B “pose an unusual threat to the employment of American workers.”\nThis is not the first time that this administration is trying to negatively impact the immigration process of foreign workers. However\, this last proclamation has already had devastating consequences for international companies\, which are now starting\nto get into uncharted waters.\n\nPART 2: The last updates to enter any country of the Schengen Area:\nwhat to expect this summer?  \n\nU.S. citizens are not required to obtain a Schengen visa in order to enter any member country of the Schengen Area for tourism or business purposes. However\, the travel restrictions imposed worldwide because of the Coronavirus pandemic already affected the entry of many U.S. citizens in Europe. What are the last updates for this summer for U.S. residents?\n\nThe presentation will be followed by a Q&A session. Please email your questions in advance at julie@facc-atlanta.com.\n\n\n\n\n\nAs a courtesy\, this program is free and open to all\, but registration is required. \n\n\n\n\n

SUMMARY:Conversations with Master Teachers: Emotional Design Thinking
DESCRIPTION:Emotions are at the heart of what it means to be humans\, and we know they play a critical role in students’ learning. The research results are clear. They show students’ emotions affect their attention and memory\, which together determine their ability to learn. Educators around the world are starting to realize that by attending to their students’ emotions\, they can improve their overall well-being but also foster their motivation to learn. \nThis webinar will present the case for a student-centered design in IB education. Through practical examples\, Master Teachers will explain why successful IB courses should include not only the teaching of relevant theory in the field but also addressing students’ feelings during the learning experience. \nAt the end of this program\, participants will: \n\nUnderstand how emotions affect students’ learning performance.\nLearn how to implement learning rituals to help students showing poor levels of engagement.\nAnalyze how to use an  “Emotional Design Thinking Framework ” to formulate successful student-centered learning experiences.\nLearn some practical examples of how leading IB educators reduce overwhelming anxiety and boredom in the classroom while promoting content mastery.\n\nFeaturing: \nDr. Dina Frutos-Bencze\, Saint Anselm College \nDr. Erica Piros Kovacs\, Indiana University \nDr. E. Fernando Doria\, Georgia State University \nDr. Ilke Kardes\, Valdosta State University

SUMMARY:Enhancing Global Customer Experience in a Low Touch Economy
DESCRIPTION:CX leaders at global companies are designing and delivering experiences differently\, considering implications of the pandemic on an international scale\, to deliver value in a low touch economy. In the context of CX\, low touch historically referred to a reduced quantity of overall interaction touchpoints (digital or in-person). Now it refers to changed societal behavior\, including shifted customer expectations in reaction to guidelines\, regulations\, and restrictions. Consumers are wary of enclosed spaces\, groups\, and physical contact. Customers expect reduced\, more sanitary\, socially distanced\, and even contactless physical touchpoints. Businesses are pivoting. Digital adoption is accelerating. How essential and non-essential workers serve customers is changing. For global companies\, this includes the added complexity of experiences that reach across borders. Customers must be understood\, and experiences must be delivered in consideration of cultural differences\, and varied regulations. \nJoin for an engaging panel discussion\, hosted jointly by the TAG International Business and TAG CRM/CX society. The panelists will share advice and lessons learned to-date on adjusting the design and delivery of customer experiences in a low touch economy. \n \nVisit the TAG website for more information on the panelists.

SUMMARY:Opportunities in the Cybersecurity Sector in Peru
DESCRIPTION:Peru has greatly increased digital access over the past decade and efforts underway will continue to close the gap as expansion of continues into rural areas deep in the interior – via satellite connections and associated hardware installation. \nOpportunities for U.S. producers cyber/IT of goods and services are on par with that of other developing countries of its size. 32% of organizations in Peru suffered cyber-attacks over the last two years and the need for quality cyber security policies and products and services is highlighted through the fact that 65% of organizations in Peru allocate between 1% and 5% of the IT budget for cybersecurity\, while only 18% of organizations allocate a budget greater than 10%. 80% of companies have a general awareness program on cyber threats\, of which only 7% were formal and focused\, and 20% were tested and improved. These statistics highlight the needs and opportunities for U.S. cyber security products and services in Peru. \nPeruvian Government efforts focusing on digital security bolster both public and private sector demand for related products and services. \nTop cyber challenges in Peru are: \n\nThe Government of Peru is establishing a Digital Security Center but resources/staffing are limited.\nA report by the OECD noted Peru had a strong legal structure for digital policymaking authorities. Peru has issued a cyber-defense law though continues to lack a clear digital policy and strategy and\, thus\, remains a bit lost on the issue.\nPeru is just developing an understanding on the issues of data localization and cross border data flows.\nAccording to statistical reports\, Peru occupies the 4th place in cyber-attacks in Latin America after Brazil\, Mexico and Colombia.\nDuring 2019\, at least 57% of Peruvian companies suffered a ransomware attack\, with Peru being the most attacked country in Latin America. Vulnerability and malware attacks have also been detected.\nAmong the most affected sectors are technology\, education and health.\n\nLocal sector expert will make a presentation on overview\, challenges and opportunities for U.S. companies in the cybersecurity industry in Peru.

SUMMARY:Ethics In Adversarial Artificial Intelligence (AAI)

Due to the involvement of three overlapping elements (i.e.\, family\, business\, and ownership)\, family business is different from other types of organizations. While some family businesses struggle to survive into the third generation\, others tend to perform well over time compared to their corporate counterparts. \nAs humanity copes with the effects of the current COVID-19 crisis\, family businesses may be able to play an important role in helping both businesses and consumers in navigating through the many market and technological uncertainties that this crisis has created\, and no doubt will further create in the future. Yet\, we know very little about that role. The purpose of this webinar is to develop a deeper understanding of that role so that thoughtful managers and policy-makers can develop more forceful responses to the new challenges they are now facing due to the coronavirus pandemic. \nThe webinar will address the following: \n\nThe unique features of family businesses that provide advantages for them to respond to the COVID-19 crisis;\nThe challenges family businesses face and how they can convert these challenges into business opportunities during and in the post-pandemic world;\nThe role of organizational and national culture in shaping the effectiveness of these response strategies.\n\nFeaturing:  \nDr. Qian Cecilia Gu\, Georgia State University \nFrancesca Sanguineti\, University of Pavia \nDr. Attila Yaprak\, Wayne State University

SUMMARY:Agriculture and Water Resources - Business Opportunities in Chile
DESCRIPTION:In the midst of its worst drought in history\, Chile is looking for the latest technologies to improve water use efficiency. Farmers are looking to incorporate best practices and high-end technology in their production processes. The country is an excellent market for the latest and most innovative irrigation technology\, as well as use and preservation of existing water resources.   \n\nChile is highly vulnerable to impacts of climate change\, with large portions of land suffering desertification and a severe drought.  \nThe limitation of soil and water available require adjustments to improve efficiency of production processes\, and of the use\, care and storage of natural resources including water used in agriculture.  \nChile has a modern agriculture industry and is among the top ten agricultural exporters in the world.\nChile’s main agricultural exports are wine\, fresh fruit\, dairy\, meat and fishery products.\nThe country has comparative advantages in agricultural\, livestock and forestry production because of the diversity of climates\, the exceptional natural sanitary conditions and high standards of quality and safety.\nBecause of Chile’s location in the southern hemisphere\, its agricultural production is counter-season for the main consumer markets. In addition\, the high quality and professionalism of farmers of all sizes and the extensive network of trade agreements\, among them the FTA with the U.S. signed in 2004\, allows preferential access of Chilean products to approximately 86% of global GDP and 64% of the world’s consumers.\nChilean consumers\, as well as those in countries that import Chilean products\, increasingly look for ‘green production’\, healthy and environmentally friendly produced food.\nThe country’s goal is to achieve a circular agriculture system by incorporating the highest standards of agriculture processes\, consumption\, waste management\, including recycling and re-use of resources. High labor and energy costs pose challenges to local the agriculture\, agroindustry\, and food processing industries\, all of which present opportunities for U.S. machinery\, equipment\, services and supplies.\n\nThe Chile/U.S. free trade agreement provides duty free entrance for machinery\, equipment\, and supplies exported from the U.S. One of the most critical problems that Chile’s agriculture faces is the current drought\, the worst in the history of the country. Fruit producers are already reporting yield decrease by 30% – 50% depending on the region of production. Both the government and private sector are seeking ways to obtain and preserve water\, such as dam concessions\, underground water reservoirs\, desalination plants\, and waterways. There are three projects to transport water from the rainy Biobío Region to Central and Northern Chile. \nLearn about upcoming business opportunities in the sector\, understand the latest developments in the environment\, and learn about tools and resources to support your company’s market entry to Chile directly from the experts!
