SUMMARY:Paco Pena: Flamencura
DESCRIPTION:Paco Peña is to flamenco guitar what Pelé was to futbol – his name is synonymous with the art form. Ever the innovator\, Peña returns to the Rialto by popular demand to push boundaries with his new piece FLAMENCURA\, in which Peña and his fellow performers pursue “duende”: that inexplicable\, elusive moment of magic that joins artist and audience together in transcendence. And when he reaches that peak\, wouldn’t you like to be able to say you were right there beside him? \n“Extraordinary… The rich rhythms of flamenco music\, its delicacy and its sudden fiery flares\, are conjured with an apparent effortlessness that makes an audience relax: we are in the hands of an artist.”\n– The Telegraph (UK)

SUMMARY:2nd GACC South Martinsgans Dinner
DESCRIPTION:Join the GACC South for an exquisite Martinsgans holiday dinner featuring Roasted Goose.  \nThe Tradition of St. Martins Day and Martinsgans \nSt. Martins Day is named after St. Martin of Tours\, who was made a saint by the Catholic Church for being a kind man who cut his cloak in half to share with a beggar during a snowstorm. According to legend\, Martin was hesitant to become a bishop as an honor of his good deeds\, so he hid in a stable filled with geese to escape from Church officials. Needless to say\, the cackling of the geese quickly gave away his location. \nTraditionally\, this dinner takes place on the 11th day of the 11th month of the year as families all across Germany commemorate the life and legend of St. Martin through serving a roasted Goose feast while children gather in city streets to engage in paper lantern parades and sing songs. \nSt. Martin’s day also marks the beginning of the winter and the 40 days lent before Christmas. \n\n\n\n $85 for GACC South members; $100 for non-members \n*Pricing includes full three course dinner. Does not include alcoholic beverages. \n\n\n\n\nRegister quickly as space is limited!\nRSVP by November 5th.

SUMMARY:How the Payments Sector is Driving Atlanta Forward
DESCRIPTION:Atlanta’s strength is in its economic diversity\, but the lack of a signature industry cluster can give the impression that it doesn’t lead any one area.\n\nThe city’s Payments Processing industry shows that’s a myth. “Transaction Alley\,” a newly labeled corridor of companies that move 70 percent of electronic payments in the U.S.\, is worth more than 30\,000 jobs to Georgia and is driving growth across the city.\n\nMidtown’s innovation hub is burgeoning with the arrival of giants like Worldpay and NCR and upstarts like ParkMobile. Payments also sits at the intersection other strategic tech sectors: mobility\, cybersecurity and health care IT. This all comes at a time when the smartphone revolutionizes how payments and e-commerce work.\n\nJoin Global Atlanta\, Arnall Golden Gregory and the American Transaction Processors Coalition for a morning program and lunch exploring the biggest industry sector you’ve never heard about.\n\nYou will:\n\n-Explore the anatomy of a payment transaction\n-Hear why Worldpay moved to Midtown and how it approaches innovation\n-Learn how Fintech fits into Atlanta’s plans\n-Gauge the industry’s international opportunity \nSpeakers: \n\nPeter Forbes\, Senior Vice President\, WorldPay\nBlake Patton\, Managing Partner\, Tech Square Ventures\nGrant Wainscott\, Director\, Technology Industry Expansion\, Metro Atlanta Chamber

SUMMARY:A Conversation With Jessica Colotl
DESCRIPTION:Kennesaw State University students will be hosting Jessica Colotl on campus\, for a conversation on her 2010 arrest that made national headlines and sparked the immigration debate. She will be joined by Dr. Marie Marquardt\, of Emory University. \nFollowing the arrest of Ms. Colotl\, in 2011 the Georgia Board of Regents’ implemented Policy 4.1.6 and Policy 4.3.4\, a pair of rules which ban undocumented students from five major public universities in Georgia and prohibit them from qualifying for in-state tuition. Georgia is one of only three states – including Alabama and South Carolina – to institute an admissions ban against undocumented students in public higher education.\n\nThis event will mark the first time Ms. Colotl – now a KSU graduate – speaks publicly on KSU’s campus specifically concerning her experience in 2010 as an undocumented youth and college student here in Georgia. Dr. Marquardt will facilitate the conversation through a series of questions focused on highlighting the human effects of immigration policy. Offering a human-focused counter narrative to the current political rhetoric\, this event explores the heavy toll that restrictive immigration and education policies take on Georgia’s youth.
