DESCRIPTION:Serious border conflicts between Russia and China have since been resolved with mutual border agreements signed in the early 2000s. Since then\, increasingly coordinated military exercises on land\, sea\, and in the air as well as increased trade agreements initiated by a perceived threat America seems to present to both nations has brought us to the current American/Russian foreign policy outcomes. Will this relationship further deteriorate to the advantage of China\, or are there other paths to explore? \nDimitri Trenin will offer the Russian perspective regarding this growing alliance\, the perceived American threat that drives it\, and what options possibly hang in the balance for both America and Russia. \nAbout Dr. Trenin\nDmitri V. Trenin\, PhD\, has been the Director of the Carnegie Moscow Center since 2008\, and was the first Russian to be appointed to this position. He is also a senior associate of the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace. \nHe was also the first non-NATO senior fellow at the NATO Defense College (1993) and\, upon retirement from the military\, a visiting professor at the Vrije Universiteit Brussel (1993–1994). In 1994–1997\, Trenin was also a senior research fellow at the Institute of Europe\, Russian Academy of Sciences. Dmitri Trenin received his PhD from the Institute of the USA and Canada\, Soviet Academy of Sciences (1984). \nAt Carnegie\, Dmitri Trenin chairs the Foreign and Security Policy Program. He is the author of more than 10 books\, including: Russia; What is Russia up to in the Middle East?; Should We Fear Russia?; Russia and the World in the 21st Century; Unconditional Peace: 21st Century Euro-Atlantic as a Security Community; Post-Imperium: A Eurasian Story; Solo Voyage; Central Asia: The Views from Washington\, Moscow\, and Beijing; Integration and Identity: Russia as a New West; and others. \nDmitri Trenin is a member of the International Institute for Strategic Studies in London\, the Russian International Affairs Council\, the Russian International Studies Association\, and other organizations.

She holds a Ph.D. in Cultural Studies from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. She has worked in the field of diversity for over 15 years. Before becoming an administrator\, Dr. Hines-Gaither was a college professor for almost two decades. She taught Spanish\, (Afro)Latin American Studies\, African Diaspora Studies and Women and Gender Studies. She is a frequent speaker\, trainer and scholar on a variety of topics related to inclusion. Dr. Hines-Gaither has been quoted in national publications\, and she is a leading diversity consultant to top rated U.S. and international companies. Dr. Hines-Gaither is also a popular blogger at Cup of Diversity.com.
