SUMMARY:China Breakfast Briefing: Views From the Ground
DESCRIPTION:With China sealed off during the pandemic and de-coupling and de-risking dominating discussions on recalibrating the relationship\, it may be tempting to think that U.S.-China business has ground to a halt.  \n\n\n\nThe reality is more nuanced: Despite tough talk\, trade wars and a slowing economy\, China remains Georgia’s largest trading partner by far\, and the inertia of the world’s factory floor is proving formidable despite a very real rush to find supply-chain alternatives in Asia or beyond.  \n\n\n\nJoin Global Atlanta\, the China Research Center\, Chinese Business Association of Atlanta\, and GSU’s Office of International Initiatives at the China Breakfast Briefing to learn how local companies\, entrepreneurs and civil society organizations are finding ways to work with China in the face of rising tensions and intensifying rivalry.  \n\n\n\nAs always\, we’ll prioritize perspectives from recent travelers to China to give a sense for the mood on the ground\, putting current headlines in perspective while addressing real hurdles to future engagement.  \n\n\n\nCo-Organized by: \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nSponsored by: \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nMeet Our Speakers\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nMr. David Yang\, Founder of General Financial Group Inc.\, is a well-known CPA based in the greater Atlanta area. Yang currently serves as the executive director of Atlanta Chinese Entrepreneur Club (ACEC) and the board director of Gwinnett Chamber of Commerce.\nYang has been one of the leading voices of civic and democratic engagement in Atlanta Chinese American community. During the 2020 election season Yang has organized various campaign events and hosted a series of videos features\, “Conservative America”\, which inspired new immigrants to appreciate the exceptional American experiences. By actively promoting the cultivation of next generation leadership with his charitable work\, Yang gained the gratitude and trust of the parents as well as the local educators. \n\n\n\nAs an advocate of the entrepreneurship\, Yang\, with the support of ACEC board\, led ACEC to step out of the Chinese American community and establish a strategic partnership with the Gwinnett Chamber of Commerce. In recognition of ACEC’s outstanding contributions to Gwinnett communities\, the Gwinnett Chamber of Commerce awarded ACEC the annual small business award. \n\n\n\nYang has an expertise on American and international politics\, with a targeted focus on geopolitics and economics. He is the political and financial contributor of China’s prestigious “Economic Observer\,” where his work can be found\, alongside his commentating on local and national TV shows.  \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAnisa Telwar Kaicker is the Founder and CEO of her namesake business\, Anisa International.\nShe started her business in 1992 and has pioneered the leadership\, product development and culture of this globally branded business through the design and manufacturing of cosmetic brushes for makeup and skin care. She sates\, “Through Quality without Compromise\, Innovation that Inspires and Giving Back to our communities\, I know we have positioned ourselves as the go-to leader in our industry. It’s the products we produce\, the ideas we encourage and the people we align ourselves with that sets us apart.” \n\n\n\nAs a trusted authority\, Anisa has built a reputation on creating the highest standard of innovative\, quality-driven products in the beauty brush space and attributes much of this success to an unyielding commitment to transparency within the manufacturing process. In 2003 Anisa International vertically integrated their operations by opening their own manufacturing facility\, Anisa China\, in Tianjin. Fast-forward to 2020 and through substantial investment in social and environmental sustainability\, Anisa has expanded her operations by opening two new state-of-the-art and facilities\, Anisa Tianjin and Anisa Jinghai which are committed to cleaner\, safer\, responsible manufacturing and employs over 500 individuals dedicated to the practice of cruelty-free and ethically made products. \n\n\n\n“Our mission at Anisa International is to redefine beauty by creating inclusive and innovative products that take care of our consumers\, partners\, and society. We believe in making a difference and are proud to be paving the way in responsible beauty tool manufacturing and development\, says Anisa (or ATK as she is fondly known in the business). \n\n\n\nAfter almost 3 decades of providing superior products to the best brands in the business\, Anisa further expanded her innovation by launching her own brand of \n\n\n\nspecialized cosmetic brushes focused on skin care and makeup application through ANISA Beauty. \n\n\n\nANISA Beauty found great success in its first year of operations. Part of this responsibility is to give back in a way that mindfully cultivates a culture of leaving a positive impact both today and for future generations.” – ATK \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nZaheer Faruqi is the CEO of Aventure Aviation and is responsible for the success and strategic direction of the company.\nHe oversees the company’s operations\, taking great interest in ensuring that the right staff are hired\, and that they are provided with the proper training and facilities needed to make their jobs challenging and fun. \n\n\n\nHis favorite part about working at Aventure is forming relationships with customers\, to ensure that he understands their specific parts requirements. SUMMARY:Cyrus the Great Statue Unveiling
DESCRIPTION:At 12:00 PM on Saturday\, October 28\, 2023\, in honor of Cyrus the Great Day\, you are invited to our unveiling of a monumental statue of Cyrus the Great at the Millennium Gate dedicated to liberty\, justice and peace. Cyrus the Great\, founder of the Achaemenid empire\, upon liberating Babylon\, freed the slaves\, established racial equality and rights for women\, declared that all people had the right to choose their own religion and returned their various gods to their shrines. He also helped the Jews build The Second Temple. According to the Book of Isaiah\, Cyrus was anointed by God as a messiah for these actions\, the only non-Jewish figure to be revered in this capacity. Iranian and Jewish peoples share an ancient bond of friendship that modern Islamic fanaticism has tried (and failed) to destroy. Remembering the past is a powerful perspective for shaping the future; one where diverse peoples and cultures live together in freedom and harmony.  \n\n\n\nCyrus the Great’s decrees were recorded in cuneiform in The Cyrus Cylinder\, a baked clay cylinder that is celebrated as the oldest-known declaration of human rights. It is translated into all six official languages of the United Nations and its provisions parallel the first four Articles of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. Cyrus the Great was a source of influence for the Barons at Runnymede when drafting Magna Carta and for Thomas Jefferson when he wrote the Constitution of the United States of America. \n\n\n\nThe statue and the surrounding park will also be dedicated as Nimruz Park in honor of the Iranian people and their cause for freedom against tyranny\, and in hopes of a bright future between Iranian and American peoples. This park celebrates and honors champions of human rights from around the world\, especially those advocating for a free\, democratic\, and secular Iran. Nimruz\, in Persian\, means “midday”\, the point at which the sun is at its peak\, and the most light shines on the land. Nimruz is also the name of a place in the famous Iranian poet Ferdowsi’s masterpiece called The Shahnameh\, or Book of Kings. It is a place where champions gather to protect the realm and all they hold dear against the forces of darkness. May freedom ring all across Iran\, and echo the words of Cyrus the Great for generations to come.   \n\n\n\n\n\n\nRegister
