SUMMARY:ACIR presents - Alan Elsner: J Street and the Fight for the Two-State Solution
DESCRIPTION:Luncheon and Discussion \nThe two-state solution envisages two independent states – Palestine and Israel. Noted in UN General Assembly Resolution 181 (II) in November 1947\, the two-state solution often has been a major focus on efforts to achieve peace between Israel and the Palestinians for over 80 years. Yet all attempts to achieve such a solution have failed. Come hear Alan Elsner\, special advisor to the president of J-Street\, provide his views on efforts to achieve peace between Palestinians and Israelis through a two-state solution. \nAbout J-Street: J Street is the political home for pro-Israel\, pro-peace Americans who want Israel to be secure\, democratic and the national home of the Jewish people. Working in American politics and the Jewish community\, J Street is an advocate for policies that advance shared US and Israeli interests as well as Jewish and democratic values\, leading to a two-state solution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.

SUMMARY:The New Contours of US-Israeli Relations with J Street's Alan Elsner
DESCRIPTION:President Trump has ushered in a new era in Israel and the Palestinian territories with decisions such as the imminent move of the US Embassy to Jerusalem and significant cuts to the UN Refugee Organization for Palestinians. Despite this\, just last week\, President Mahmoud Abbas laid out explicit support for the two-state solution and put forward a serious proposal for how to get there before the UN Security Council. In his speech he raised the obvious question: Why are President Trump and Prime Minister Netanyahu unwilling to do the same? \nJoin J Street  at Temple Sinai to explore the new era of US-Israel relations and their implications for world affairs and our own American Jewish community with the Special Advisor to J Street’s President\, Alan Elsner\, veteran of Israel Defense Forces and former Washington Bureau Chief of Reuters. SUMMARY:International Women's Day Breakfast: #PressForProgress
DESCRIPTION:From the #MeToo to the #TimesUp movements\, 2017 was a momentous year for women internationally. Let’s make 2018 the year that is not only for women\, but also ignites a permanent forum for women’s rights. \n#PressforProgress is the discussion on the changes taken from within male-dominated industries. For example\, Tesla has just signed on Ebony Media’s CEO Linda Johnson Rice to its board. What kind of message does this send to all genders in the workplace? \nRickey Bevington\, GPB’s Senior Anchor\, will moderate this discussion. \nThe cost of this event is $30 for members and $45 for non-members.
