SUMMARY:World-Renowned Jazz-Fusion Band from Hungary "Djabe" Concert with Hungarian Ambassador to the US
DESCRIPTION:The number 1 jazz/world fusion band in Hungary\, Djabe\, makes its Atlanta debut on December 2\, 2018\, at The Velvet Note in Alpharetta. The Velvet Note follows performances earlier that week in New York City and Baltimore. The Ambassador of Hungary to the United States\, H.E. Dr. László Szabó\, will accompany the band to Atlanta/Alpharetta\, and will sit in with his guitar and sitar on several numbers. \nEstablished 23 years ago\, and since 1998 Djabe won numerous domestic and international awards and recognitions. Released more than 50 CDs\, LPs\, DVDs\, Master Tapes and Blu-ray. Since 2002 the band gave concerts in 42 countries throughout Europe\, Asia and North-America. Djabe is one of the most invited Hungarian bands by international festivals. Djabe plays unique music in which the elements of jazz are mixed with various parts of Hungarian and world music. \nThe main composer of the band is Tamás Barabás\, who – at the same time – is the most virtuoso Hungarian bass guitarist. Djabe means freedom in the African Ashanti language. The founder\, and other composer\, of the band is Attila Égerházi – playing the guitar and being the leader of the band too – who interprets this freedom primarily by freely mixing styles and instruments. Égerházi and Barabás refreshed the band in September\, 2016. They stayed true to the high standards accustomed to Djabe when selecting the newest members of the band. At the drums sits the internationally acclaimed\, Artisjus Award-winner and Grammy Award nominee Péter Kaszás\, who was and still is the drummer for Al Di Meola’s band\, World Sinfonia\, for 9 years. The old-but-new member of Djabe\, Áron Koós-Hutás\, multiple award-winning trumpet player who performed at many gigs of the band between 2008 and 2010. The keyboards are under the hands of the Hungarian musical life’s outstanding talent János Nagy. The Artisjus\, eMeRTon and Erkel Award-winning musician played with exceptional Hungarian and foreign jazz giants along his career. \nDjabe worked together with several word famous musicians. Ben Castle British saxophonist (The Brand New Heavies\, Sting\, Jamie Cullum)\, John Nugent\, Canadian sax player (Ella Fitzgerald\, Tony Bennett\, Carla Bley)\, Malik Mansurov is the master of the ancient instrument of Azerbaijan. Since 2007 Djabe has joint concerts regularly with the former guitarist of Genesis\, Steve Hackett. The outstanding project of the band\, the show of ‘Djabe & Steve Hackett’ not only consist of Steve playing Djabe tunes\, it includes playing Genesis and Hackett classics with Djabe. At the Garana Jazz Festival in Romania\, they played in front of 13.000 fans. Djabe and Steve released 8 albums together. Three of these records published by the London based Cherry Red Records\, and got a massive worldwide distribution. \nSome of the reviews: \n“One of the best fusion band all over the World.”\nJohn Nugent\, producer and artistic director of Rochester International Jazz Festival \n“The band is obviously talented.”\nJed Eienmann\, Village Vanguard\, New York \n“Fantastic show\, thank you for being with us.”\nRuud Wijkniet\, Director of The Hague Jazz Festival \n“Djabe’s music is very interesting\, well played and well produced. Congratulations!”\nAssociazione Blue Note\, Italy; \n“All of us think that Djabe is a very good music.”\nMia Hansson\, StockholmJazz \n“It is from the most beautiful music and excellent productions\, the music is superb.”\nBrian Dempster\, Hollywood International Jazz Festival\, Northern Ireland \n“This is a very interesting and intriguing music.”\nMaurycy Meczekalski\, Director of Od Nowa Club\, Jazz Od Nowa Festival\, Poland \n“Extraordinary players. Flexible team that varies from show to show.”\nSteve Hackett \n“Their music is good\, very good! “\nPhilippe Méziat\, Bordeux Jazz Festival\, France; \n“Hungarian Djabe was one of the greatest surprises of the first night of Bratislavska Jazz Days 2002.”\nNárodná Obroda; \n“Djabe knows everything that is to be known about music. This is proved by their compositions\, the carefully put together pieces together with their precise solos. Humour and lyric gentleness\, relieved\, drifting pulsation and sentimentalism follow each other in a way that it does not change over into soppiness\, not even for a minute.”\nJános Neltz\, Hungarian Radio \nDjabe – Flow \n\nDjabe – Return To Somewhere \n\nDjabe – Deep Lights \n\nDjabe Bubble – Dream \n\nDjabe & Steve Hackett – Clouds Dance \n\nDjabe & Steve Hackett: Buzzy Island \n\nDjabe & Steve Hackett: Tears For Peace \n\nMore info: www.djabe.com\nhttps://www.facebook.com/djabeworld/
