SUMMARY:COVID-19 & Violence Against Women and Girls with Michelle Nunn
DESCRIPTION:COVID-19 has further compounded existing gender inequalities\, putting already marginalized women and girls – with weaker access to political and economic power – at greater risk. While policies put in place to mitigate the spread of this raging pandemic should keep women and girls safe and healthy\, they are not necessarily creating this positive outcome. Besides creating additional barriers for them to access health care\, there is compelling evidence that lockdowns are leading to a rise in violence against women and girls.   \nMichelle Nunn\, President & CEO of CARE USA\, will discuss how the humanitarian world and CARE USA are stepping up to the plate to help women and girls around the world overcome this pandemic.

SUMMARY:Winning the Race When You Can’t See the Finish Line
DESCRIPTION:Three Simple Steps to Manage Innovation\nWhile we often envision new products created by a lone genius toiling in his garage\, successful innovation is actually the result of a deliberate process. Repeatable and profitable innovation focuses on \n(1) the organization’s strategic objectives\, \n(2) customer needs\, and \n(3) robust decision-making. \nThis session will explore a few simple tools and techniques for effective innovation management within these three arenas. You will learn how to manage and improve innovation processes to beat the competition\, even in today’s turbulent market conditions. \nMeet the Speaker: \nTeresa Jurgens-Kowal\nGlobal NP Solutions – Founder \nTeresa is passionate about innovation. She founded Global NP Solutions in 2009 to help individuals and organizations learn\, adopt\, transform\, and sustain innovation. Teresa facilitates best practices training for executives\, managers\, and teams to improve innovation performance using a variety of hands-on work style assessments and customized tools. Teresa frequently presents keynotes and breakouts locally and nationally on her favorite topics of innovation\, design thinking\, and product development. She recently published a chapter on leading virtual teams for innovation projects with the Virtual Team Model (VTM) (October 2018\, Leveraging Constraints for Innovation) and just released The Innovation ANSWER Book\, a comprehensive guide to building innovation leadership (October 2019). \nTeresa has a PhD in Chemical Engineering from the University of Washington (Seattle\, WA) and an MBA from West Texas A&M University. In addition to New Product Development Professional (NPDP) certification with the Product Development and Management Association (PDMA)\, she is a certified Project Management Professional (PMP®) with the Project Management Institute (PMI®) and a licensed Professional Engineer (State of Louisiana).

SUMMARY:Infrastructure Project Opportunities in the Central America Region
DESCRIPTION:Infrastructure projects represent opportunities to U.S. companies interested to do business in the region\, with a variety of projects in the pipeline this group of countries represent opportunities in projects in sectors like: transportation\, ports\, security\, roads\, borders improvement\, digital transformations and others. \nGuatemala\, El Salvador\, Honduras and Costa Rica are markets nestled in the Central America Region of the Americas\, with a combined total population of about 39 million people and combined GDP of more than $ 194 billion. The countries are reevaluating national infrastructure priorities since infrastructure deficiencies\, scarce budget resources and economic\, social and public health (Covid-19 and Dengue) challenges. \nNew governments in Guatemala and El Salvador amid Midterm administrations in Honduras and Costa Rica. This represents one third of the Costa Rica government contribution to a project estimated in $1.5 billion. Costa Rica government has feasibility studies and plans a tender to design\, build and operate the system which is expected for late this year.\nEl Salvador – El Salvador needs $8.5 billion investment in infrastructure to increase competitiveness\, according to an infrastructure master plan released by IDB in November 2019. Relevant projects and recommendations are tied to transport infrastructure including expansion of the international airport\, a bulk and a containerized cargo terminal.\nHonduras – Expansion of Electrical Energy Transmission Lines.\nGuatemala – Inter-Oceanic Corridor is a project with an estimated value of $17.8 billion. The project considers the construction of a state-of-the-art Multimodal Transport System over a strip of land 372 kilometers long and 140 meters wide\, which joins the Atlantic with the Pacific Ocean. The infrastructures will be integrated by two independent systems to serve containers and hydrocarbons transportation. Furthermore\, these will be complemented by industrial\, commercial and services zones.\n\nLearn about Infrastructure Project Opportunities in Central America!
