Email language@goetheatlanta.org. \nThe German Cultural Center offers: \n\nIn-person courses in Atlanta (main office in Downtown – Peachtree Center)\nIn-person courses in Roswell (our partner Alliance Française’s Roswell office location)\nVirtual courses via Zoom sessions with a live instructor\nhybrid courses that allow participation either in-person in Atlanta or to dial in via Zoom\n\nStandard courses are progressive language courses by level starting at the Beginner A1 level\, based on the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages. \nSpecialized courses vary each quarter and include conversation\, grammar\, German for Travel\, Current Events\, writing\, literature\, and other offerings. In addition to promoting French-language films wherever they are screened\, the Cinéclub is a monthly event at the Alliance. DESCRIPTION:THE CHORUS EVENT OF THE YEAR with Scandinavian Songs and Music \nCome and experience a concert featuring one of Scandinavia’s best choruses\, the Akademiska Kören\, Stockholm\, led by world-renowned conductor Håkan Sund; as well as the 150-member American Union of Swedish Singers (AUSS) conducted by Jeff Wressell and Jennifer Wagner. Also presented in this riveting program of Swedish culture and song is tenor Niklas Björling Rygert\, from the Royal Swedish Opera in Stockholm. \nThe Akademiska Kören was founded in 1931 as an Academic chorus\, but it soon became open to anyone\, not only students. Its conductor\, Håkan Sund\, is a former piano professor at the Royal Music Academy of Stockholm. He has taken the chorus to a higher level and found ways to inspire the singers and also make the repertoire more varied. \nThe AUSS was created in 1892 to give Swedish-American singers in the U.S. the opportunity to sing beautiful songs from their homeland and culture. Every three years the members meet at a national convention. Currently there are 16 AUSS choruses in the U.S.\, from coast to coast. \nNiklas Björling Rygert has belonged to the permanent soloist’s ensemble at the Royal Swedish Opera since 1999. DESCRIPTION:Join the GSU Office of International Initiatives for its 4th year participating in the Lake Lanier Dragon Boat Race on Saturday\, September 9th\, 2023. \nhttps://www.dragonboatatlanta.com \nFree and open to all GSU Faculty\, Staff\, Students\, and Alumni! \nLunch\, a team t-shirt\, and bus transportation (for 37) to and from GSU Downtown (Dahlberg Hall) for the event provided. \nThere are spots for 40 racers in total and also a 10-person waitlist and/or cheerleader section for those who do not race. \nNOTICE: The bus pick-up from downtown is at 6:15 AM and drop off will be around 3:00 PM.  \nThe location is Lake Lanier Olympic Park in Gainesville\, Georgia. If you do not take the bus and drive yourself\, you will need to pay for parking. \nPLEASE ONLY SIGN UP IF YOU 100% PLAN TO ATTEND!! With limited spots\, transportation constraints and specific t-shirt size orders\, only serious racers and participants are asked to e sign-up.
