His rise to power\, fame and fortune eventually comes to an end when he’s sentenced to life in prison\, however\, after a remarkable turn of events\, he is freed but at a cost. Frederick the Great\, King of Prussia\, is embroiled in a war with Austria and needs the resourceful master thief to infiltrate the besieged city of Prague before Austrian support troops arrive. The King offers the legendary master of disguise a full pardon in exchange for spying on the Austrians but Christian soon discovers his King has no interest in keeping his word. What ensues is a battle of wits and survival in Kevin Casebier’s debut novel. \nAbout the Author\nKevin Casebier \nHonorary Consul to the Republic of Latvia \nGeorgia\, U.S.A.  \nKevin Casebier\, Author of King of Thieves\, is a film producer\, Honorary Consul and amateur historian born with a case of wanderlust. The only thing he likes as much as an adventure is a good story about one. He is a direct descendent of the Kasebier family featured in the book. The fascinating story of Christian Kasebier was discovered through years of family genealogical research. Kevin has traveled extensively throughout Europe\, learning about its history\, and walking the paths of the characters. He lives and works out of his home in Atlanta\, Georgia and Seagrove Beach\, Florida with his wife Stacey and their Cavalier King Charles Spaniels. For more information about Kevin and his book\, visit www.viningshousepress.com \nAbout the Series\nGeorgia’s deep pool of international expertise is sometimes hidden in the ivory towers of academia or overshadowed by looming national figures. Sought-after thought leaders sometimes shine globally while being ignored in their own backyard. \nWith Authors Amplified\, a monthly series of book talks open to subscribers and the public\, Global Atlanta showcases authoritative local voices in foreign affairs and international business while highlighting the state’s intellectual contributions to important global conversations. \nThe Authors Amplified series is presented by the Atlanta Global Studies Center (AGSC)\, a partnership of Georgia Institute of Technology and Georgia State University\, funded in part by a US Department of Education Title VI National Resource Center grant\, with a mission to empower the metro region’s global agenda.

Nearly $1.7 billion a day in goods and services trade crosses between us every day. The February 23\, 2021 Roadmap for a Renewed U.S.-Canada Partnership highlights the depth and breadth of the relationship. It establishes a blueprint for an ambitious and whole-of-government effort against the COVID-19 pandemic and in support of our mutual prosperity. It creates a partnership on climate change\, advances global health security\, bolsters cooperation on defense and security\, and it reaffirms a shared commitment to diversity\, equity\, and justice. Our two countries\, building on our shared history and geography\, work closely together on multiple levels including collaborating in the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic\, an inclusive and robust economic recovery\, the global climate challenge\, border and national security\, global affairs\, the opioid crisis\, environmental protection\, and free trade. \nCanada – U.S. Bilateral Trade: The United States and Canada share a trillion dollar trade and investment relationship. This economic partnership between the U.S. and Canada supports millions of jobs in both countries through direct foreign investment\, cross-border trade\, and our integrated economies. Canada buys more from the U.S. than any other country by a wide margin. Moreover\, Canada buys more from the U.S. than the United Kingdom\, Japan\, and Germany combined. No industry better depicts the relationship between Canada and the U.S. than the automotive industry\, with its highly integrated supply chains resulting in nearly $110 billion in bilateral trade. Factories in both countries specialize in specific components of manufacturing a vehicle. By the time a car rolls off an assembly line\, some materials/components have crossed the Canada-U.S. border multiple times during the production process. \n\nMillions of U.S. jobs depend on trade & investment with Canada\nCanada is the #1 customer for most U.S. states\nCanada and the U.S. trade an average of $1.4 million in bilateral goods and services every minute of every day.\n76% of Canadian exports to the U.S. are raw materials\, parts\, and components used to create other goods in the U.S.\nCanada is the #2 source of foreign direct investment in the U.S.\n\nCanada – Georgia Bilateral Trade: Of the six states covered by the Consulate General of Canada in Atlanta\, Georgia’s trade relationship with Canada ranks #2\, equaling $11.2 billion annually in 2021\, and surpassed only by Tennessee. Of the $6.2 billion that Georgia exports to Canada\, automobiles and plastics account $944 million of that\, or 15%. The Canadian footprint in Georgia is considerably concentrated primarily in the automotive supply chain nexus\, lumber production and agriculture related sectors and includes notable Canadian companies such as Magna International\, lumber giants Canfor\, West Fraser and Interfor and Irving Consumer Products. It is a relationship that has not gone unnoticed\, as the Consulate has been located in Atlanta for nearly 50 years. \n\n367 Canadian-owned businesses employ over 45\,000 workers in Georgia.\nCanada is Georgia’s #1 customer.\nCanada sells more to Georgia than it does to South Korea.

She has authored more than 20 books on wine\, including Chasselas – from Féchy to Dézaley – A journey to discover the treasures of the Vaud vineyards and the annual guide Weinseller\, along with her wine magazine Weinseller Journal. She studied at the Universities of Zürich and Lausanne and the Institute of Masters of Wine in London. Putting her experience to practice and following her passion for Switzerland’s indigenous varieties\, she has launched her own line of wines from vineyards in Geneva\, Vaud\, and the Valais. Rather than a purely commercial exercise\, her wines are an extension of her desire to understand the interaction of terroir and variety and to make wines that are not only a pleasure to drink but reveal something unique and special about the wine styles of her home. \nHer collection of wines includes a fresh and vibrantly youthful Chasselas from Geneva aptly named Glou Glou Chasselas\, a range of Chasselas from the distinct terroirs of the Vaud\, and a selection of indigenous varieties and wine styles from the Valais. She assembles each project first by understanding the vineyards\, then guiding the winemaking to be as minimalist as possible. Thus\, what is in the bottle is a pure reflection place and variety. While this may seem overly academic\, it is a great way to begin to understand that the complexity of Swiss wines is truly worth exploring. \n  \nSaturday\, July 9 | Swiss 5k and Fun Run with On Running\n8:00 AM at Fleet Feet-Decatur\n\nFree Event – Break a sweat and demo the best Swiss running shoes in the business – Google Forms RSVP here\nOn Running will be on site with shoes\, gear and local rep Natalie Richardson\nPost run Swiss Slushies and snacks will be served\n\nSunday\, July 10 | Swiss Wine Soirée\n3 PM – 7 PM at Bold Monk Brewing Co.\n\n$40 ticket includes your first glass of Swiss wine\, Swiss inspired small bites\, live Jazz and more – purchase tickets here\nConsul General of Switzerland in Atlanta Peter Zimmerli will give opening remarks\n10 Swiss wines available to try by the glass and by the bottle\nPartners include – Consulate General of Switzerland in Atlanta\, Alliance Francaise of Atlanta\, Geothe-Zentrum Atlanta\, Swiss American Society of Atlanta\, On Running\, Perrine’s Wine Shop\, Fleet Feet Decatur and Avant Partir\n\nSpeaker bio: \nPeter Zimmerli\nConsul General\nConsulate General of Switzerland in Atlanta \nBorn in 1957 in Switzerland\, Peter Zimmerli grew up in the canton of Aargau. SUMMARY:Pinetree Plaza Mural Celebration
DESCRIPTION:Join Halpern Enterprises\, Inc. for a Community Mural Celebration Event at Pinetree Plaza on July 9 from 10:30am – 12:00 p.m. \nBuford Highway has a new landmark\, a vibrant and colorful mural reflecting the diverse community of Doraville. The mural\, painted by Atlanta artist Leah Abucayan\, is a part of a larger partnership between businesses\, like Halpern Enterprises\, Inc. and the City of Doraville to bring new and exciting public art to Buford Highway. \nEvent highlights include: \n\nRibbon Cutting from Mayor\nAuthentic food flavors from Buford Highway\nArt supplies for families from Doraville Art Association (Dart)\nScavenger hunt\nCOVID vaccination trailer from Dekalb Health\nAnd much more\n\nMatthew Oppenheimer\, Director of Acquisitions at Halpern Enterprises said\, “After seeing the impact murals have had in other communities\, we jumped at the chance to bring a mural to Pinetree Plaza when we learned about Doraville’s new public art ordinance. We saw the mural as an opportunity to celebrate the cultural diversity along Buford Highway through the lens of the different cuisines represented along the corridor\,” Oppenheimer went on to say\, “It has already been so gratifying to see the way people are embracing the mural\, and to see the meaning people are finding in the images. Whether it be people identifying their favorite foods along Buford Highway\, to others reflecting on the role these dishes and this corridor played in their family’s journey as immigrants to this country\, this mural represents so much of what makes this community a special place.” \nHalpern Enterprises\, Inc. believes in the power of arts and culture to inspire creativity and spark collaboration. Without the integral partnerships of The City of Doraville\, Living Walls\, and We Love Buford Highway the beautifully designed mural\, and the enormous community engagement\, would not have been possible. Public art has the power to reshape the way people experience spaces\, and Halpern has seen this firsthand with the Pinetree Plaza mural. \nWith the creative talent of students and alumni at Cross Keys High School\, Halpern Enterprises will be participating in the City of Doraville BuHi Walk crosswalk project\, spanning 2.5 miles throughout the corridor\, by designing colorful walkway art carrying pedestrians from the sidewalks in front of Pinetree Plaza to the mural. This partnership would not have been possible without the dedication of the following Cross Keys staff: Denise Quintana Equity & Student Empowerment Director; Federica Teodori Art Teacher\, and Catalina Valdez Cross Keys Alumni. \n
