SUMMARY:Oil and Water
DESCRIPTION:Huff Harrington Fine Art presents “Oil and Water\,” a show that explores how complimentary liquids work magically together to create watery works\, featuring pieces from artists Kelli Kaufman\, Laura Lacambra Shubert\, Trip Park\, Carylon Killebrew\, Craig Mooney\, Millie Gosch\, Andrea Costa\, Laura Lloyd Fontaine and Bethanne Cople. The exhibit opens to the public on Friday\, April 22 from 6-8 p.m. with complimentary liquids and nibbles\, and runs through Friday\, May 6. \nThese nine artists\, many of whom are based in the Southeast\, feature backgrounds and styles that vary wildly\, resulting in a group show that encompasses everything from heavily textured Southern landscapes and flowing watercolor works to bold\, powerful abstracts and everything in between. “The concept of oil and water is one of two materials that refuse to blend\,” says co-founder Ann Huff. “But when this concept is applied to artwork\, the end result can be quite beautiful and unique.”

SUMMARY:Jazz Songtress - Cécile McLorin Salvant
DESCRIPTION:Poised. Radiant. Captivating. The words of praise for young Cécile McLorin Salvant far outstrip her years of experience – a testament to her studied\, stunning command of blues\, jazz\, and classical vocabularies. Born in Miami to a French mother and a Haitian father\, Salvant immersed herself in music from age five\, eventually honing her vocal chops in Aix-en-Provence\, France. It’s only fitting that an artist of such unique origins would conclude the winding musical journey that is the Rialto Series\, ending the season in Atlanta on a beautiful\, high note.

SUMMARY:7 Days in Syria Film Screening
DESCRIPTION:The Center for Civil and Human Rights and Creative Visions will show a screening of 7 DAYS IN SYRIA\, a timely film showing the families in Syria living on the front-lines of the conflict.
