SUMMARY:MADAME Film Screening
DESCRIPTION:Join Out on Film and the Consulate General of Switzerland in Atlanta for a Pride month celebration. All ticket holders are invited to a special reception at Apres Diem at 6 pm. \nJoin them in celebrating Pride Month with the screening of MADAME by Stéphane Riethauser! Follow the story of a double self-portrait in which a 90-year-old grandmother and her homosexual grandson confide in each other. With sincerity and humour\, the film deconstructs gender stereotypes in depth and with subversive power\, and traces a family saga from bourgeois society with enchanting archive footage. The film will be shown in French with English subtitles and is part of a collaboration between the Consulate General of Switzerland in Atlanta and Out On Film. Make sure to arrive at 6 PM for a delicious cocktail reception! \nLearn more about the film:\nMADAME takes us on an intimate journey where Caroline\, a flamboyant 90-year-old grandmother and her filmmaker grandson Stéphane explore the development and transmission of gender identity in a patriarchal environment. Promised to a domestic life in the 1920s\, Caroline manages to free herself from the clutches of a forced marriage and becomes a successful businesswoman\, defying the social rules of her time. In parallel\, Stéphane struggles to play the role everyone expects in his Swiss bourgeois family\, until the day he comes out of the closet and sets off on a crusade against homophobia and sexism. A family saga based on private archive footage\, MADAME offers a dialog between this extravagant matriarch and her gay grandson\, challenging the taboos of gender and sexuality.

SUMMARY:The Song Remains the Same: Exploring the Intersection of U.S. Export Controls and Life Sciences Companies
DESCRIPTION:Over the past few months\, much has been written about the expansive U.S. sanctions against Russia and Belarus. At the same time\, there are indications that other sanctions programs may be loosened. Export control regulators are spending a lot of energy on compliance investigations. Please join Michael E. Burke\, Corporate partner and co-chair of the Pharmaceuticals & Medical Devices team\, and Alan G. Minsk\, partner\, leader of the Food & Drug team\, and co-chair of the Pharmaceuticals & Medical Devices team\, for a complimentary webinar focusing on considerations related to export controls and trade sanctions. \nThis webinar will focus on a variety of topics\, including:\n• a discussion on how life sciences companies are affected by U.S. export controls and\n• how those companies can develop a specific and nimble export controls compliance program. \nThere will be an opportunity for Q&A at the end of this webinar. \nCredits: 1 hour of CLE credit is pending approval by the State Bar of Georgia.

SUMMARY:Francophone Summer Camp
DESCRIPTION:at Peachtree Center\nThis class is an exploration of Francophone cultures outside of mainland France. Each day your child will focus on a different Francophone country: Haïti\, Congo\, Sénégal\, Belgique et Martinique. The objective of this course is to create a new vision of what French is and where it is spoken\, while also reformulating certain stereotypes of these countries as “developing” and “poor.”  Children’s literature and films written by artists from these countries will be used to represent the cultures they are learning about. They will also be introduced to societal issues\, such as environmental health and migration through the pieces that we use.\n\nYour child will create a “passport” and we will add a new flag to for each country they “visit.” The objective by the end of this camp is that students have an awareness of Francophone countries outside of France and can speak about these cultures.\n\nFor example\, for Haiti\, they will read the children’s book\, “le dernier mapou\,” and speak about the sacred importance of the mapou in Haitian culture. They will talk about the environment and learn vocabulary to talk about this. Each student will then create an art piece about what nature signifies for them. This day they will also talk about environmental issues\, and learn vocabulary surrounding global warming and deforestation by watching a video of the situation in Haiti. We will not focus on the earthquake\, or consider Haiti as a disaster or poor country\, but rather reframe the narrative of this country and consider it for its culture and beautiful environment.\n\nThe number of students is limited. Nearly $1.7 billion a day in goods and services trade crosses between us every day. The February 23\, 2021 Roadmap for a Renewed U.S.-Canada Partnership highlights the depth and breadth of the relationship. It establishes a blueprint for an ambitious and whole-of-government effort against the COVID-19 pandemic and in support of our mutual prosperity. It creates a partnership on climate change\, advances global health security\, bolsters cooperation on defense and security\, and it reaffirms a shared commitment to diversity\, equity\, and justice. Our two countries\, building on our shared history and geography\, work closely together on multiple levels including collaborating in the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic\, an inclusive and robust economic recovery\, the global climate challenge\, border and national security\, global affairs\, the opioid crisis\, environmental protection\, and free trade. \nCanada – U.S. Bilateral Trade: The United States and Canada share a trillion dollar trade and investment relationship. This economic partnership between the U.S. and Canada supports millions of jobs in both countries through direct foreign investment\, cross-border trade\, and our integrated economies. Canada buys more from the U.S. than any other country by a wide margin. Moreover\, Canada buys more from the U.S. than the United Kingdom\, Japan\, and Germany combined. No industry better depicts the relationship between Canada and the U.S. than the automotive industry\, with its highly integrated supply chains resulting in nearly $110 billion in bilateral trade. Factories in both countries specialize in specific components of manufacturing a vehicle. By the time a car rolls off an assembly line\, some materials/components have crossed the Canada-U.S. border multiple times during the production process. \n\nMillions of U.S. jobs depend on trade & investment with Canada\nCanada is the #1 customer for most U.S. states\nCanada and the U.S. trade an average of $1.4 million in bilateral goods and services every minute of every day.\n76% of Canadian exports to the U.S. are raw materials\, parts\, and components used to create other goods in the U.S.\nCanada is the #2 source of foreign direct investment in the U.S.\n\nCanada – Georgia Bilateral Trade: Of the six states covered by the Consulate General of Canada in Atlanta\, Georgia’s trade relationship with Canada ranks #2\, equaling $11.2 billion annually in 2021\, and surpassed only by Tennessee. Of the $6.2 billion that Georgia exports to Canada\, automobiles and plastics account $944 million of that\, or 15%. The Canadian footprint in Georgia is considerably concentrated primarily in the automotive supply chain nexus\, lumber production and agriculture related sectors and includes notable Canadian companies such as Magna International\, lumber giants Canfor\, West Fraser and Interfor and Irving Consumer Products. It is a relationship that has not gone unnoticed\, as the Consulate has been located in Atlanta for nearly 50 years. \n\n367 Canadian-owned businesses employ over 45\,000 workers in Georgia.\nCanada is Georgia’s #1 customer.\nCanada sells more to Georgia than it does to South Korea.
