First Financial Management Corp. (FFMC), a leading supplier of financial information services based in Atlanta, announced June 5 that its merchant credit card company, NaBanco, was awarded a contract by Microsoft Corp. to provide credit and debit card transaction services globally.
“For several years we have talked about the information superhighway and the opening of the global information marketplace,” said Patrick Thomas, FFMC’s chairman, president and chief executive officer, during the announcement.
Under the agreement, NaBanco will provide Microsoft with global credit card authorization and processing in 19 currencies for The Microsoft Network, which is scheduled to be operational later this year and has been billed as a “next-generation” on-line service. The Network will be integrated into Windows 95 applications.
