Youth for Understanding is seeking five Atlanta host families for German high schoolers coming to the U.S. for a yearlong cultural immersion experience starting in mid-August.

Participating families are asked to provide a loving, supportive home, a place to study and three meals a day for the students. No financial compensation is being offered to the families who volunteer, but organizers say many past families have reaped the rewards of international exchnage.

YFU, which is based in Bethesda, Md., just outside Washington, is administering the Congress-Bundestag Exchange, a program undertaken by the legislatures of the U.S. and Germany. The program is also supported by the Goethe-Zentrum, which has a large branch office in Midtown.
