The Flanders Foreign Investment Office (FFIO) is hosting a free seminar on Tuesday, June 22 from 4-6 p.m. at the World Trade Center Atlanta. The options available for the development of distribution centers in the Flanders region of Belgium will be discussed, and a networking reception will follow.
Many large multinational firms have chosen Flanders for their European distribution center, Jan Offner, FFIO’s Dallas-based business development officer, told GlobalFax last week, citing Nike’s $167 million facility.
He said that Nike built the center from scratch because it wanted to be able to reach anywhere in the heart of Europe within 24 hours and to be near to the port of Antwerp.
And there are plenty of tax incentives for companies that may like this approach, Mr. Offner said. But he also cited the option provided by Caterpillar, which offers third party logistics services.
Additionally, he pointed to Solvay, which entered into a partnership with the group Katoen Natie to build its center also near the port.
