The French American Chamber of Commerce Atlanta Chapter’s spring gala this year will be held at the Hilton Atlanta and Towers Downtown on Saturday, May 8, from 7:30-11:30 p.m. and will feature France’s Normandy region.
Ten percent of the raffle and auction proceeds of this annual fund raising event for the chamber will be donated to the International Community School, a DeKalb County public charter school in Avondale Estates.
“We also expect a corporation or an individual will provide a matching gift that should provide enough funds to pay for one student to attend this wonderful school for one year,” Denys Gounod, the chamber’s president, told GlobalAtlanta last week.
The school was founded in 2002 and currently has some 180 students in kindergarten through third grade from 30 countries and more than 40 different language groups. Approximately half are children from refugee and immigrant families.
American veterans attending the black-tie event will be presented with a “Thank You American Certificate” in remembrance of the participation of U.S. soldiers who took part in the Normandy landing and contributed to the liberation of France.
Olivier Giscard d’Estaing, a former member of the French Parliament and the founding dean and professor at Insead, a graduate business school located in Fontainbleau, France, is to attend.
The cost is $100 for members of the chamber and $120 for non-members. To make a reservation, call Nathalie Laurent, office manager or send an email to info@facc-atlanta.com
