Paris-based Coface, a world leader in export credit insurance and developer of a Web-based credit rating system, has opened its ninth North American operation in the offices of the French Consulate General in Atlanta.
“Our immediate objectives are to gain exposure and develop relationships in the area,” Marc Hart, Coface’s newly-arrived representative for the southeastern U.S., told GlobalFax during an interview last week. “This will include getting our product out there in the market.”
The company provides export and domestic credit insurance to protect clients against the risk of default by their customers, explained Mr. Hart.
Coface’s Atlanta office location inside the French Consulate in Buckhead, is the result of a longstanding, sizable relationship between the French government and Coface, Mr. Hart added.
The Coface Group also supplies credit information to its clients, gleaned from international subsidiaries including Coface Scrl (France), Veritas (the Americas), Intercredit (Eastern Europe), Frontline (Hong Kong), Mope (Portugal) and an information network operating in 68 countries.
Mr. Hart is additionally charged with promoting the company’s unique @ratings solution, which will provide Web-based information on the creditworthiness of 35 million firms worldwide, to members of the Southeast’s international trading community.
He will focus his efforts on developing business relationships in Arkansas, the Carolinas, Georgia, Louisiana, Mississippi and Tennessee.
