Nissan North America Inc.’s relocation of its Southeast regional headquarters from Jacksonville, Fla., to Atlanta presents an opportunity for Georgia to further develop its business ties to the U.S. subsidiary of Tokyo-based Nissan Motor Co. Ltd., according to Kevin Langston, communications director of the state’s Department of Economic Development.

The headquarters will provide sales, marketing and service support for some 150 Nissan dealers in Alabama, Florida, Georgia, western North Carolina, middle Tennessee and South Carolina, as well as several in Kentucky.

“We expect that Nissan’s experience here in Georgia will exceed their expectations, leading at some point to an opportunity to compete for additional business from them,” Mr. Langston told GlobalAtlanta.

Gov. Sonny Perdue announced Aug. 12 that Nissan North America moved it’s Southeast headquarters to 21,000 square feet of office space in the Overlook II complex in the Vinings area. The office employs 42 staff and 12 field personnel.

“Atlanta provides a more central location close to the heart of their network of dealers than their previous location,” Mr. Langston said.
