The state of Georgia will be the featured destination at the Visit USA tour and travel show to be held Jan. 27-28 in Zurich, Switzerland.
More than 900 tour and travel professionals from Switzerland as well as travel media from Austria and Germany are expected to attend the show, which promotes tourist destinations in the U.S.
Kelly Miller, international sales and marketing manager for the Atlanta Convention and Visitors Bureau (ACVB), told GlobalFax that Georgia will have the premier pavilion location at the show. Multimedia presentations about the state will be made during the opening session each day of the show.
In addition, all attendees at the show will be required to attend a workshop during which Georgia officials will explain how the state can be promoted to Swiss travelers.
Mr. Miller stressed the importance of Swiss travelers by citing a U.S. Commerce Department inflight survey of international travelers showing that they are the largest spenders of any group of European travelers and stay an average of 17 1/2 nights.
Mr. Miller also said that Atlanta’s two weekly nonstop flights between Zurich and Atlanta represent 160,000 seats annually, or about one third of the annual Swiss travel market to the U.S.
Georgia will be represented at the show by the Georgia International Marketing Alliance (GMA), a consortium of 24 Georgia Convention and Visitors Bureaus (CVBs) which have been committed since 1996 to fund marketing initiatives in German-speaking countries for three years.
Cost of participation in the Georgia Pavilion in Zurich begins at $2,000. For more information, Mr. Miller may be reached at (404) 521-6694.
