Amid a growing wave of investment from South Korea, the Georgia Department of Economic Development is growing its internal team devoted to handling inbound projects from the country.

The department announced Oct. 20 that it has brought in Seunghun (Jacob) Lee as a project manager assisting Korean firms setting up shop in the state.

Mr. Lee is no stranger to Georgia: He previously worked for IRC Consulting, the firm that runs the state’s investment and trade office in Seoul, which has operated since 1985.

According to the department, Mr. Lee focused on market research and partner identification, with a specific emphasis on food and beverage, IT, services and other sections. He completed more than 200 cases of market research in support of more than 100 Georgian companies, also helping organize visits by elected officials to Korea.

He arrived in Georgia and started work in mid-September, supporting Yoonie Kim, director of Korean investment in the state.
