The Georgia Ports Authority has named Griffith Lynch, an executive with more than 20 years of experience managing container terminals, as its new chief operating officer.

Mr. Lynch and his wife will move to Savannah. He comes to the position from Global Container Terminals, where he served as vice president managing the design and expansion of the Bayonne, N.J., port terminal.

About 850 employees, or about 90 percent of the Georgia Ports Authority workforce, will report to Mr. Lynch.
