Georgia State University marketing expert Ken Bernhardt will chair the Atlanta Convention and Visitors Bureau‘s board of directors in 2010, succeeding Steve Smith, an executive at Turner Broadcasting System Inc.
Dr. Bernhardt, Taylor E. Little Jr. Professor of Marketing at the J. Mack Robinson College of Business, has served on the ACVB’s board since 1991, chairing the marketing, strategic planning and research committees at various times. He has been a member of the ACVB’s executive committee for the past 12 years and helped develop the organization’s cultural tourism department, one of the first such initiatives in the country.
In addition to having chaired the Robinson College’s marketing department, Dr. Bernhardt has held top positions in many national marketing trade groups, including a stint as president of the American Marketing Association.
In 2000, he received the ACVB President’s Award for outstanding service to the marketing of Atlanta.
