Georgia State University marketing professor V. Kumar has won his fourth lifetime achievement award from the American Marketing Association, the first person in the history of that organization to win more than two of the awards.
Dr. Kumar, executive director of the Center for Excellence in Brand and Customer Marketing at Georgia’s State’s Robinson College of Business, won two lifetime achievement awards in 2007. He will receive two additional awards at the AMA Summer Educators Conference in August in Chicago.
“Having received four lifetime achievement awards is truly an extraordinary accomplishment,” said Robinson Dean H. Fenwick Huss. “It demonstrates how VK’s career has touched all facets of the marketing profession and how his revolutionary research has had an impact on the success of companies throughout the world.”
One of Dr. Kumar’s research specialties is improving profit by increasing focus on customers. A book by Dr. Kumar published last year, “Managing Customers for Profit,” has been translated into Italian, Japanese, Macedonian, Chinese and Spanish and is in its second printing.
Dr. Kumar holds an undergraduate and master’s degree from the Indian Institute of Technology and a doctorate from the University of Texas. He joined the Robinson faculty in 2008. He was previously on the faculty of the University of Connecticut.
