The German American Chamber of Commerce of the Southern United States is seeking a managing director to lead its site-selection services.

The executive would lead a team consulting for German companies looking to set up new offices or factories in the Southeast or moving into the region from another U.S. location. The team helps the companies negotiate tax incentives with the state and local governments.

The position is under the chamber’s for-profit consulting arm, GACC South Services LLC.

Strong contacts in the economic-development community, knowledge of the U.S. market, an entrepreneurial bent and experience managing teams are required. German language skills are ideal but not necessary. The managing director would report to the GACC South’s CEO, Martina Stegmeier.

The vacancy came available with the departure of the current director, Thomas Schwegmann, March 26.

The local chamber is part of a network of 120 German chamber offices in 80 countries.
