Until he assumed his positions as president and CEO of the Global Commerce Bank in Chamblee this summer, Y.T. Lin spent most of his banking career at the highest levels of four banks in California.

“Every bank is different,” he told GlobalFax during an interview at the bank located in the Asian Square shopping center, “but location is very important and to be in Atlanta provides a lot of opportunity.”

Mr. Lin said that he plans to expand the bank’s client base from its  “natural constituency” of predominantly Asian-American customers. He also is considering a geographic expansion from where the bank already operates into other areas of the metro Atlanta area in need of international banking services.

“Not too many banks of this size provide the international services that this bank does, especially with our multilingual staff that provides us the ability to overcome language barriers,” he said.

Formed in 1995 by a group of Asian Americans from across Georgia and neighboring states with less than $10 million in assets, the bank now has more than $50 million in assets.

Mr. Lin most recently was president of the Oakland, Calif.-based Metropolitan Bank. He also has been CEO of the National American Bank, president and CEO of the America California Bank and president of the Bank of Canton of California, all headquartered in San Francisco.

He may be reached by calling the bank at (770) 457-5858.
