The highest-tier members of the Gwinnett Chamber of Commerce are set to travel to Brazil and Argentina this fall, blending business engagement and networking with on-the-ground sightseeing.

Held Sept. 28 South American trip is a follow-up to last year’s inaugural Chairman’s Club excursion to the United Arab Emirates and India.

The chamber says Embark taps into its two decades of expertise in organizing international trade missions, enabling impactful networking for local executives as they enjoy cultural enrichment in beautiful, far-flung locales.

“The EMBARK travel program offers our members a truly unique opportunity to connect, grow, and experience the world together,” Gwinnett Chamber President and CEO Nick Masino said in a news release, promising an “unforgettable adventure” for participants.

The trip will begin in Buenos Aires, with stops at the Argentine capital’s Teatro Colon, Palermo neighborhood and Recoleta Cemetery, as well as a tango demonstration and wine tasting in La Boca, among other attractions. They’ll then head out of the city to Iguazu Falls. Guests will experience both the Argentine and Brazilian sides of the fabled natural wonder, which is a third taller than Niagara and stretches across a wide expanse with 275 distinct falls.

From there, guests will head to Rio de Janeiro, where they will ride a cable car to the top of Sugarloaf Peak, view the city from atop the famed Christ the Redeemer statue and take in Corcovado ridge and Tijuca National Park. They’ll also visit Samba City to get a taste of carnival.

Mr. Masino has told Global Atlanta in the past that Embark is designed as a “bucket-list trip,” giving Gwinnett business leaders who want to travel internationally both a push and some built-in support and camaraderie as they go. An exotic destination and attractive backdrop are important, but “it’s about the people on the trip,” he said.

Prior participants seconded that sentiment.

Maureen Kornowa, CEO of Home of Hope, said in a testimonial that travel with the chamber is a “shortcut to getting acquainted with influential members of the community.”

Often, the chamber peppers in a bit of business activity, from signing agreements with counterpart organizations to setting up meetings with U.S. diplomats posted in the destination country.

Pricing begins at $10,950 for double occupancy and $6,705 for single occupancy, not including airfare to South America. That comes on top of the $5,000 in dues that Chairman’s Club members pay the chamber annually.
