Jose Ignacio Gonzalez, executive director of Hemisphere Inc., Atlanta’s organizing committee for its bid to host the secretariat of the Free Trade Area of the Americas, is to receive the Georgia Council for International Visitors’ International Citizen Diplomat Award.

GCIV gives the award to Georgians who “reflect in their personal and professional lives the mission of GCIV, which is to create strong and positive connections between Georgia and people of other countries.”

The award will be presented to Mr. Gonzalez at GCIV’s annual International Consular Ball on Saturday, April 17.

Originally from Colombia, Mr. Gonzalez, who has been a citizen of Georgia since 1987, is scheduled to speak at the annual general meeting of the World Trade Center-Atlanta to be held Tuesday, March 16 from 5:30-7:30 p.m.
