An exporter of products for horticulture, erosion control and turf management is set to put a 110,000-square-foot plant in Monticello, Ga., hiring 80 people and investing $35 million over three years.

Buffalo Grove, Ill.-based Profile Products’s Jasper County plant will focus on wood fibers for erosion control and horticultural substrates, becoming the sixth facility in its already-extensive footprint in the Southeast U.S.

Since a 2020 acquisition, the company has also made peat moss in the provinces of Saskatchewan and Manitoba in Canada.

Profile Products, which employs 500 people globally, recently purchased a coconut coir provider in southern India, the latest bid to deepen its international reach and expand its supply base.

With a large agribusiness sector and a strong labor pool, Profile saw Georgia as a natural partner, said Jim Tanner, the company’s CEO.

The world is asking for sustainable technologies,” Mr. Tanner said in a release from the office of Georgia Gov. Brian Kemp. “We’re building them right here in Jasper County!”

Profile focuses on scientific research to develop products that help establish flourishing green spaces on golf courses, roadsides, athletic fields, gardens and more.

The Monticello facility will be up and running this month, according to a news release, with the bulk of the capital investment added in the coming years.
