Indonesia flag air carrier plans to join the SkyTeam airline alliance in 2012, providing new route access for Delta Air Lines Inc. and other partners in Southeast Asia‘s largest economy.

Atlanta-based Delta issued a statement supporting Garuda Indonesia‘s announcement that it is seeking to join SkyTeam.

The airline has hubs in the cities of Jakarta and Denpasar and will add 30 destinations to the SkyTeam network, according to a Delta news release.

Garuda Indonesia is the fifth Asian airline to join or announce its intention to join SkyTeam this year.
