The American Society of Training and Development (ASTD) invites employees of multinational companies and Atlanta entrepreneurs interested in globalization issues to attend its Special Interest Group (SIG) kick-off event, Monday, Aug. 20.

          “This event will introduce Atlanta’s business community to ASTD’s International SIG and the multicultural training and workplace issues our group will address during our meetings this year,” Irina Solomkina, Russia-born chairperson for International SIG, told GlobalFax.

          The International SIG is one of several special interest groups of ASTD, a networking resource that provides information and research on workplace learning and performance.

          The event begins at 5:00 p.m. for new member orientation, registration and networking at the Holiday Inn Select – Atlanta Perimeter, 4385 Chamblee-Dunwoody Rd. The program begins at 6:00 p.m.

          Pre-register by Aug. 15 at www.astdatlanta.org. Cost is $26 for members, $30 for non-members. After Aug. 15, a $10 additional charge is added for registration.

          International SIG meetings are to be held every second Tuesday of the month. Admission is free for ASTD members and $5 for non-members. Topics to be discussed during future meetings include international marketing, linguistic challenges for global projects, training techniques for a multinational audience and challenges of multicultural training.
