Ireland encourages startups to compete for cash and residency.

Enterprise Ireland, the country’s organization responsible for developing and growing Irish enterprises, is encouraging early-stage startups willing to relocate to Ireland to compete for an investment of approximately $56,000.

The agency recently launched a Competitive Start Fund aimed to support entrepreneurs currently overseas but who are willing to relocate to Ireland to grow “their business idea.”

Startups in manufacturing and internationally traded services, including the following subsectors: Internet, Games, Apps, Mobile, SaaS, Cloud Computing, Enterprise Software, Lifesciences, Fintech, Cleantech and Industrial Products, are particularly encouraged to enter the competition.

Closing date for the receipt of applications is Wednesday, Sept. 7, at 3 p.m. All applications to the fund must be made made via the Enterprise Ireland Online Applications System. For further details on the competition and the eligibility criteria, log on to Enterprise Ireland’s CSF page.

Acccording to a Sept. 1 announcement, shortlisted projects will be invited to travel to Ireland in November to make a formal pitch to the evaluation panel on Friday, Nov. 8. in Cork, Ireland.

Enterprise Ireland will assist entrepreneurs who need a visa to live and work in the country. Successful applicants from outside the EU are eligible to apply for a Startup Entrepreneur Visa, which permits the holder and his/her family to reside and work in Ireland.
