Mitsunori Nishimoto, a visiting scholar from Japan’s Ministry of International Trade and Industry, will be available to help Georgia exporters understand Japanese industrial standards through the month of May, at the Georgia Institute of Technology’s Center for International Standards and Quality (CISQ).

      In Japan, Mr. Nishimoto is staff specialist for industrial standardization and assistant manager of the International Standards Office, Standards Department, Agency of Industrial Science and Technology.

      In this position, he has participated in a variety of activities related to the development of Japanese Industrial Standards (JIS), international standardization, and the operation of Japan’s JIS-Marking system.

      Mr. Nishimoto specializes in the areas of electronic and electrical equipment, machinery, tools and materials, and has served as a factory examiner on JIS-Mark audits.  He holds a Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from Hiroshima Institute of Technology and a Master’s degree in economics from Tsukuba University.

      During his stay, he would like to interact and consult with Georgia firms on technical and standards-related issues involved in exporting products to Japan.  Mr. Nishimito is also available for guest lectures, presentations, research collaborations and industry group consultations.
